Can anyone remember any Ranger player who was was more thrilling and exciting to see come up than Neftali Feliz???

I'm just in total awe, I have nothing actually insightful to say...

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez

He’s last guy who wowed like Feliz has.

First, and only thought that came to mind.

Upon further reflection, Greer ’94 was scintillating:

.410 OBP

 .900 OPS

1:1 K/BB

Plus D in a corner .. man. Fucking Bobby ‘Blast from the Past’ Hamelin was ROY that year, with Manny placing second ahead of Greer.

Pudge was certainly awesome

but at the time, I don’t think any of us really thought “Hey, this is the next Johnny Bench.” When he first came up, I think he was more like Elvis in that regard – just a fresh young face dominating defensively and pleasantly surprising offensively.

Whereas I fully expect Feliz will be in the Hall of Fame after these just short of eighteen innings he’s pitched.

Some guy named Nolan Ryan

was pretty riveting when he went out to pitch… but wasn’t around all that long.

not really the same because he wasn't a minor leaguer coming up

But watching Hambone in the first half last year got me as excited, possibly more.

Ruben Mateo

I just knew he was going to be a star. Then broke his leg running to first base, and it was game over after that.

Please Lord let Feliz have a better fate than that.
