Holy shit.

Thankfully I have a window a/c in the bedroom because my trailer tends to get hot inside

A lot of people in SLO don’t have a/c because it doesn’t get to 111 by noon in SLO.

Yeah, I don't have AC, which is why I'm suffering.

Best I’ve got is one of them box fan things in the window. Which normally is enough, but not the last few days…

Feliz

I wish Wash had used O’Day there instead of rushing Feliz through his warmup. The curves were impressive, but I’d rather not risk doing anything to that golden arm (golden shoulder to be more specific). He didn’t get warm until his 4th (and last) out.

by LiamP on Aug 29, 2009 9:09 PM CDT reply actions

He got the outs.

And didn’t have to work too hard to do it. I don’t see a problem using him there, we needed out of that inning. Probably the most important situation of the entire game.

by Aquaman, Esq. on Aug 29, 2009 9:12 PM CDT up reply actions

I trust them both.

If you want to bring Feliz into the game, though, I’d rather you do it at that point and save O’Day for tomorrow than use two pitchers to get 4 outs.

Using O'Day tonight doesnt mean he's unavailable tomorrow.

He hasn’t pitched for 4 days now and theoretically you’d be using him for 1 out since Feliz isn’t warm. He’d be fine for the next couple of days.

by LiamP on Aug 29, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

That was the only thing I questioned.

So...

I was looking at some old posts, and found this one from 2005…

As the title indicates, it references 44 Rangers…looking through there, it is amazing to me how few of them, just 4 years later, have any relevance to this team now…

is that we will likely be able to look back at this roster 4 years from now and see a lot of familiar faces on the 2013/2014 roster.

Fortunately Brandon Inge had called time and Figgins was sent back to third…

I hate to be "that guy"

but as much as we bank on LAAA to balance out and start losing games, they have to be thinking the same thing about us beating them. by iorange555 on Aug 30, 2009 12:42 AM CDT up reply actions

Here's the thing about the Angels.

They have a mediocre rotation (overall, Weaver is obviously pretty good on the season, but O’Sullivan, Saunders, and Lackey have all been very hittable) and subpar bullpen that has gotten by for months on well above-average hitting. If that hitting stops, which we have some reason to expect based on the fact that so many hitters are hitting above their career norms for this team, then they are vulnerable. The last few games, with the obvious exception of last night, that hitting hasn’t been there, thus the Angels are 3-7 in their last ten games.

Gracchus (about Obama): I think he knows what America is. America is the mob. Conjure money for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. Devils advocate again.. Imagining I was a LAAA fan (I feel dirty)

The Rangers have a mediocre/decent rotation (Millwood as an ace is showing some age and tiring as the season goes on, Feldman must regress at some point right? Nips showed he gets rattled in NY and can’t throw a strike, and Holland and Hunter will have some rookie bad games) Our bullpen has a few good pieces. CJ and FX2 aren’t always solid as we’ve seen, especially Frankie since he is coming off an injury. Their thinking is that if our pitching stops, which we should believe since they are pitching well above THEIR career normals, we should be hitting a slide soon and vulnerable. Again, please hate away.

Give me team chemistry and emotion over stats any day. Do you think 34,000 Ranger fans were screaming their asses off over Pudge and his .275 OBP?

by AceJC on Aug 30, 2009 1:05 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't think CJ or Frankie are pitching over their heads by any means.

Feldman’s post ASB K/9 is higher than pre, so as long as he keeps trending towards that, his FIP will look much better, and he won’t really have anywhere to regress to. Our D has been there all season, and is still the main driving force behind the run prevention.

Around this time in previous years, I dreaded the Angels coming to town, and only looked forward to seeing if our clown college of a pitching staff could keep Vlad from his 875th straight game with a hit against us.

This year, I can’t wait to see the Angels on our schedule, so the Rangers can proceed to beat them silly and leave them in a park dumpster for Benson and Stabler to find the next morning.

by Maximilian on Aug 30, 2009 1:17 AM CDT up reply actions

You're not really making any sense.

We’ve pitched and played defense like this for the whole season, so to say we have to regress at sometime is wrongt. If we were going to regress it’d be before now. Our bullpen is fantastic as far as 7 8 9 goes. Feliz CJ and Frankie. On days Feliz can’t go you have O’day and Strop. I’d feel pretty safe with that. We’re getting B-Mac back and he might be just as bad as Nippert, but his rehab starts have been pretty good, so we’ll see.

But just as the same with our pitcher same goes for their hitting. I don’t think it’ll regress that much it may a little since they were only hitting really good for about a two month stretch. Still their offense is really good. We just gotta stay close till we play them, and then keep beating them like we have been.

I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'

by iorange555 on Aug 30, 2009 1:26 AM CDT up reply actions

It makes sense that you're pretending to be an Angels fan with that kind of thinking

Its the defense. The pitching has improved from last year, but the defense keeps the rotation be lights out. Add in a bullpen with a healthy FX2 followed by CJ, O’Day, and now Strop. As long as the team can avoid burning through those guys over the next month, the team is going to continue to be among the best in the league in runs prevented.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
