Along with Blalock. Bring up Davis and any mid infielder in the minors

They definitely should have

dfaed Arias earlier to clear the 40

Oh yes

He was hitting .140 in AAA

Unfortunately, Arias is actually a step up from Duran

by Mark from OC on Aug 5, 2009 9:40 AM CDT up reply actions

He looks totally and utterly lost out there...

I actually did something last night that I haven’t done all year (no, not THAT)

I turned off the TV after the botched pickoff, when I saw Arias make about a 100 ft powderpuff throw after recovering the ball. He has no arm, he seesm to have no instincts at 2B, and his appearance just flat unnerves me. Please tell me Omar is rested enough now.

Davis has sucked the past 10-15 games in OKC

so it wouldn’t make a difference bringing him up.

But I’d rather run out no one than Arias. He is the worst kind of worst around.

Wash's fault for having him hit lead-off

His absolutely terrible attempt at a throw to first base on an Ellis “hit” in the 8th. And stepping in front of Andrus on a ball that could have been turned into a double play if his ugly ass didn’t step in front of Elvis.

At a time when you need a versitile, experienced player the Rangers bring up Arias who I believe was still a rookie before these past two games. Why didn’t they bring up German? Esteban has over 1000 PAs in the MLs and can play 3 IF positions and the OF.

by randyd on Aug 5, 2009 12:02 AM CDT up reply actions

My solution to the offense (and defense to an extent)

Bring up Borbon, Smoak, and Davis, all at once, and let them start regularly. Option Hamilton down to AAA until he figures out his swing, try to trade hank through waivers for whatever you can get, he’s not cutting it, especially for the price he’s costing us this year. And punt Arias as far as he can possibly fly. Michael Young becomes the backup at 2b and SS with Davis backing up him at 3B until Kinsler get back, but hopefully going with an infield of Davis/Omar/Andrus/Young every night until Kins is ready. Best case it energizes the team, josh figures stuff out and comes back on fire for september. Worst case key young players for next season get important big league experience.

by rangerjake on Aug 5, 2009 12:00 AM CDT reply actions

It could if we lose all three to the Angels.

Well, Smoak won’t be coming up just yet, but I could see Davis and Borbon brought up soon after that if there’s a disaster this weekend.

I thought this was cool to read after that miserable game

From Will Carroll:

There’s simply no night in baseball like Newberg Night in Arlington. It was slightly cooler (96 vs 107 last year), but the crowd was as big and as passionate as ever—350 people packed in to hear Kevin Goldstein and I be the opening act for Jon Daniels. Daniels was as candid as any general manager can be and didn’t dodge any questions, even when fans reminded him of a “not so great” trade from the past. No other GM that I know of takes 90 minutes of questions (though a couple have taken 30 at some of our Pizza Feeds). Interestingly, Daniels was occasionally fiddling with his Blackberry while taking questions; he was actually putting Ian Kinsler on the DL and activating KG’s mancrush, Neftali Feliz. It’s pretty amazing what you can do with a phone these days. At the end, the applause was thunderous. Jamey Newberg didn’t build a web site, he built a community. He didn’t do it as a feature on a long list, but found a place where passionate fans found a home. Other writers and organizations, including right here, should take a lesson from Newberg and his readers. Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Indy are upcoming events that I’ll be at, but I’d love to do more if someone (or some team) would like. Powered by a great night of baseball, on to the injuries:

It is time to face it - this will not be our year.

We have been holding out hope that KInsler and Hamilton would break-out of their slumps but it is just going to take longer than that, especially for Hamilton. Since we can’t get all new hitters we have to get a hitting coach that preaches “swing to contact” and discipline at the plate. There are a lot of ups and downs with young players and we need to start developing those players that are going to be key in 2010 and forward. Borbon, Smoak, Davis need to be playing everyday, here.

Seemed to be a big night to tell lies and not use logic.

How’s Tommy Boy doing these days? Awfully low profile for an owner you used to admire greatly considering how well the team has played.

"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."

"Gardner, What you should do is tip your cap and then move forward with your tail tucked snugly in your gash."

"Ranger players, especially veterans, weren’t surprised that Daniels couldn’t find a deal"

Show me a single quote where I admired him...

The Texas Rangers have been synonymous with explosive firepower ever since they emptied 130 rounds into Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in 1934. - Alyssa Milano

It is actually 2 games.

They were flat last nite after Monday meltdown and Arias could have prevented that with a routine play in 9’th and then last nite – OMG.
