Sucks that it doesn't sound like Cruz will be starting anytime vs the angels
Feldman vs Saunders.. solid.
Millwood vs Weaver.. with weaver a little off lately
So not bad to start, but then Holland vs Lackey, I have very very little hope for that game.
the preceding post was a great success.
Anythingh less than
winning 2 of 3 is a let down.

A sweep would be great!
How good would they be feeling flying into Cleveland.

Well
I think an objective viewer would have to say the angels will be favored to take 2 of 3.
If they sweep it does pretty much kill the playoffs. If we take 2/3 its another feel good series vs the angels and keeping things within striking distance. I think a sweep on the road is too unlikely to even discuss =p
the preceding post was a great success.

2 out of 3 would be alright
that would make us 3.5 back with 2 months still to play. Anything less though presents a problem.
Even 3.5 games out?
Not so bad considering you play them 7 more times. 4 times at the end of the season. If you stay within 2 or 3 then they can win it or lose it at the end.
I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'
7 out of our last 17 games are against LAA
Even if we are several games back by mid-September, it will come down to head to head matchups.

Lackey
Really hasn’t been that great this year. Holland, he is young. I’m hoping for an outing in between the M’s and what he had last time. Nothing great but solid.

dont count Holland out
if he’s on, we have the advantage, if he’s not falling behind in counts a ton, he’s capable of pitching better than Lackey even if Lackey is pitching well. Only problem is that our offense still doesnt inspire much faith in me, so yea.

Responding to criticism that the team should have done more to deal star pitcher Roy Halladay by the trade deadline, Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi revealed at a press conference Monday that there was no such person as the alleged six-time All-Star.

BIG series in Anaheim and the Rangers have had their number this year. Hamilton is looking better, Young is raking, offense is trying to get off life support and pitching match ups don’t look bad… where do the Rangers find themselves Monday morning?
My guess is 3.5 back in the West and 1.5 games back in the wild card.

Jon,
if you believe that BS about a shoulder problem, then you are not as smart as I gave credit. Salty’s D, especially throwing back to the mound has suffered for the last 10 days, or there abouts. He was benched!

Well, I didn't see the game, so I really have no idea what went down.
I’m just going off of the postgame reports here.
I would find it slightly strange that a guy who’s been the solid defensive catcher most of the year got benched in the middle of a game, but his throws back to the mound do need to improve.

He deposited a threw wide to the 3rd base side that bounced into center allowing a run.
Thats after the throw he made to Holland Tuesday night that Holland had ot jump for, and came down on the downhill 3b side of the mound. When I saw that, all i could think was Dutch lsanding weird and turning a knee or an ankle.

I mean, maybe Wash approaches him after the inning like “What was up with that throw? Does your arm feel okay? Speak up if you’re not good to go.”
But love or hate Wash’s managing style, it doesn’t include angry, reactionary benching.

Well, from EG's depot in-game blog
3:03: Salty started to head out to the plate to warm up Hunter, but then was called back. He then went up the ramp towards the clubhouse. So, at this point, I’m not sure if its injury/illness or if the Rangers pulled him out because of the throwing issue.
As pointed out, Ron usually isn’t one to bench people, but who knows. The fact that Salty went back to the clubhouse instead of to the bench with his teammates would suggest to me that he really was hurt though. If Ron had pulled him, I would imagine he’d have him in the dugout explaining it to him rather than letting him just head to the showers.

I watched on FSSW
A good minute of fill time was given to Wash and Salty talking on the bench. Wash looked supportive more than intense, and Salty was head nodding and demonstrating two different arm angles – straight overhand and low 3/4 – then shaking his head in apparent response to Wash asking another question. Salty may have been pulled instinctively, and still had his gear on, but it didn’t look like a lecture in the dugout.

Then perhaps I am wrong.
But benched, or sat for an injury, the result is the same. But in thinking about it, RW should have been on top of it long before it got to today’s throw. Salty has had problems getting the ball back to the mound for at least the last week.

this is pretty ridiculous
dude’s hurt, and apparently has a deadarm, pretty much coinciding with when the throws became a problem. He’s still a much better catcher right now than Taylor, mainly on the pure awfulness of Teagarden this year. Saltalamacchia’s poor throws this year has cost us two total bases, or the equivalent of two of the four passed balls that Teagarden has, including a pretty big one last night.
Saltalamacchia needs to play better, but that’s more about his lack of offensive production than it is about throws back to the pitcher. Posts like these are dumb.

Thank you for connecting those dots for me.
All I know is V-Mart isn’t the cure all answer in Boston and he certainly wouldn’t be with the Rangers either. I don’t care if he goes 23-24 with 12 walks. Now, don’t go saying “Look at Salty now being hurt, he could have filled in great for us.” Hindsight does not count, no matter how good it fits.
So their GM didn't address his teams weakness at the deadline then like you have been saying

I'd say defense is their weakness.
