New Jeff Wilson mailbag up
Jeff Wilson has a new mailbag column up, and it sounds like all the idiots who have been demanding for a while now that the Rangers get rid of C.J. Wilson decided to write in to him...
Check it out...

Wilson is a good pitcher
and works hard to make the world better through charity efforts, I am baffled. He is exactly the kind of guy you want on your team and in the clubhouse/community.

He's the punching bag of the masses
they need talking points too, ya know.
"When he came up with that ball, hop or not, he looked exactly like a homeless guy who had found a long cigarette butt – only to discover it was soaked with gasoline. He could not have thrown out anyone there, even though Cust moves at about the speed of soil erosion." - Ed C.

CJ has been good
but he flirts with danger alot, and gets out of it alot
his BABIP is .322, but his overrall BAA is .247 in part because of his 9.06 K/9 (the best of his career).
he has had some unfortunate bounces and I think that BABIP can reduce which would make him even more dominating.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
I don't like to generalize typically,
but I really think it’s the overall wearing/good ol’ Texas boy lovin’ country bumpkins with computer access who don’t like C.J. and his hippie California ways.
It sounds ridiculous, but listen to half of the new posters who sign up every 2-3 months when C.J. blows a save. It’s never about his pitching performance, but always about his hair/yoga/tattoos/Cali.

End game
The rangers would be a worse team without him just like Jeff Wilson says.
08/03/2009 A day that will live in infamy for the rest of the AL West.
I think the bumpkins would change their tune if they knew CJ drives a 7.3l Powerstroke and owns evil black rifles

CJ says "Relax"
The rednecks, you mean.
And true…they know nothing about him. He actually bought an acreage so he could shoot his guns without bothering anyone, or going to a range.

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.
You know how I know they're gay?

Heh...
I wrote that, and then was like, hmm, better find a better phrasing. Then I thought, no. It’s appropriate, leave it in.
anyway, to answer the question...
they have rainbow bumper stickers on their 3/4 ton trucks that say they like balls in their face.
The AP sure is getting racey with the captions these days...

the flak CJ has gotten this year pales in comparison to last year. I would go as far to say he is revered here now

i don't get the free pass that many writers give Rudy
it’s ridiculous

i dont get the fact that many here think a hitting coach is a magician
this is the major fucking league…he isnt going to turn a bag of shit into an MVP
the blame falls on many shoulders
Right, but you can't fire the whole lineup...
This is, and should be. no different than any number of other coaching changes. His message is either not working or not getting through.
The Texas Rangers have been synonymous with explosive firepower ever since they emptied 130 rounds into Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in 1934. - Alyssa Milano
i agree
not that he should be fired/not retained, but i do think that should be a possibility and i definitely don’t have a problem with him receiving some criticism. it’d be one thing if he were working with a bunch of ‘bags of shit’ but the team is full of accomplished offensive players, many of whom are performing below career precedents, especially with regards to OBP. whether or not this was his fault to begin with is sort of irrelevant. reversing it should be his number one priority as hitting coach, and that effort either has not been undertaken or has mostly failed so far.

hey now
the rangers go through a pitching coach every 2 seasons it seems. when the hitting sucks we don’t blame the coach? but when pitching has almost never been good we can blame pitching coach for not being a magician?

5th inning against the Tigers
nice, my question made it in
but I’ll interpret Wilson’s answer to mean that Hicks is an unabashed cheapskate.

C J's Bad moments are often horrible...
people remember horrible moments more than mellow bad moments or even good times.
As for some other threads, what’s not-to-like about CJ, the person? The guy rocks.
And they vote
And reproduce. And comment on blogs. There is no escape …………..

be honest
idiots make us all feel better about ourselves. Without idiots, we’d all have an inferiority complex.

No impact bats available at the trade deadline
I think Nick Johnson is an impact bat. Why did the Rangers nott try to obtain him?
Johnson is on pace
to have about a 2-WAR season with the bat, not sure how much of an impact that is. And would he stay healthy? I’d like to know if they were in on him, and if not, why not, but I’m not shedding tears about it.

I like CJ
he’s been very good this season, but Frankie is still the better pitcher and needs to be used like it.
