Minors - 08/07

SPO - 9:00 - Thompson

Matt Thompson:  5/3/2/1/0/1.  7:7 GB:FB.  Tommy Mendonca continues to hit well, going 2/3 with a K.

HIC - 6:00 - Brigham LOOOOOOOOOOOOL DIRK

Brigham gave up a hit and a walk in 4 innings.  No punchouts though.  Martin Perez only went one, and per Ben Badler (hat tip to Scott Lucas), it's because they're starting to limit his innings.  Perez was working 93-95 touching 96 in his one inning, meaning if I have my calculations right, he should be throwing around 110 when he's 21.

BAK - 9:30 - Tatusko

FRS - 7:00 - HBP

Kasey Kiker melted down in the 4th, ending up with a line of 3/7/6/6/2/4.  He faced 6 batters in the inning, getting none out.  Moreland:  2/5.

OKC - 9:00 - Benson

Chris Davis has three walks in the first 5 innings, I shit you not.  Smoak's 0/3 though.

AZRL - Off

Ha

Brigham’s starting instead of Perez. How P.O.’ed is Tron right now?

Should be a split start right?

Otherwise I’ll look for news stories tomorrow about an incensed male screaming Hector Ortiz’s name trying to bust into the Hickory locker room Prince Fielder style.

yeah, I'd bet Perez relieves him - if not ...

There’s a Dirkatron naked on the field!! He’s gnawing the head off a puppy!!

Doubt it

It’s quite late in the season and he’s probably approaching his innings limit.

Kiker

What the hell?

Was there a rain delay in Hickory or something? Perez only pitched 1 inning.

by LiamP on Aug 7, 2009 8:07 PM CDT reply actions

the updated box score

shows he pitched two. I assume they’re concerned with his total innings this year.

by Hull Fan on Aug 7, 2009 8:10 PM CDT up reply actions

I have him at 1 still.

Even if they’re concerned about his inning, it’s odd to have him come on for only one inning.

Oops

Even if they’re concerned about his innings limit I mean.

BA's Ben Badler on Twitter:

Hickory manager says Martin Perez pitching one inning of relief was planned before the game in attempt to limit his innings

and

I see no Tweets sent from my phone at the game came through. Martin Perez pitched one inning, sat 93-95 and touched 96

At the start I saw

he sat 93-94, hit 92 quite a bit, hit 95 a few times. Got down to 91 two or three times.

Davis 1-2 with 4 BB. That has to be a career high for him.

jeez

Mendonca .455 in his last 10 games with a not so spiffy 13: Ks. He is the anti-Whittleman.

haha, if we could just combine those two

we’d have an uber good 3b prospect
