Increase shutter speed...

…and blurriness goes away. Good stuff.

Baseball is a bitch to shoot at night unless you have a lens that can go to a 2.8 f-stop

You need that low an f-stop to gather enough light without use of a flash. Using a flash forces the shutter to slow down and you get motion blur. Not using the flash but with a lens (like my work camera has) that only goes to f4 or so, it comes out too dark.

Indeed

I keep resisting the urge to buy a 2.8 lens to get better shots at games. My 50-250 lens that has a max ap. of 5.6 at 250 just doesnt cut it.

Yeah...

Im not that familiar with nikons auto settings but theres probably one that lets you set shutter and it does the rest.
For baseball 800 is probably the lowest you can really go and capture action, ideally you want faster though.

can also bump up the iso to gain a faster shutter.

Love the pic of them walking with the lights out

I guess they didn’t waste any time getting those fireworks started
