WOOO BMac is back I didn’t know he was good to go yet, that’s kinda cool.

The I.Q. test has been abolished.

It is now the Gardner Scale.

Terrible first for McCarthy.

3 runs given up, 24 pitches thrown so far, not out of the 1st inning yet.

He’s getting quite a few swings and misses though.

So, typical Brandon McCarthy.

J.P. can take Roy Halladay and shove him up his ass. I’ll take Derek Holland. - AJM

Rangers can no hit curve ball. Straight ball, they hit it very much. Curve ball, bats are inept.

He;s adjusting

his mechanics to hopefully limit damage. It’s what it is.

He's always had problems throwing a ton of pitches though.

Just seems to be the kind of pitcher he is.

After the game, we'll hear Snell's laments on what he did wrong facing a major league lineup for the first time since June.

Tanner Roark

Putting himself back on the map? Another good start tonight, and he’s had over a K per inning in the Cal League with a respectable HR and walk rate.

he certaintly has some very legit stats

i’ll be interested to see what he can do in Frisco next year and if they keep him as a starter or put him back in the pen

Two other Bakersfield Pitchers that are getting unfairly owned by being stuck in Bakersfield and the Cal League

Kennil Gomez: 98/52 K/BB 8.9 K/9 1.73 GO/AO… Alot of really good indicators there, the 10 HRs he’s given up and 128 hits are what inflates his ERA to over 6, but those things will likely go down next year in TL. He does need to reduce the walks some, but otherwise, he has alot of Poveda in him IMO.

Richard Bleir: 83/18 K/BB 7 K/9 2.09 GO/AO… Has a Blake Beavan-esque walk rate + a great ground ball rate and a pretty solid K-rate. I know his stuff isnt plus, but a ground ball, strike throwing finesse lefty is still a very useable pitcher. Hopefully these rates can be held up in Frisco, if so, the 5+ ERA this year will be more like 3.50 in the TL.

Richard Bleir has the 4th best FIP in the Cal LG at 3.14

and Gomez has a solid FIP of 4.48 despite likely having a pretty inflated HR #…

Some bad Defense, bad luck and the hatred of the Cal LG for its pitchers are keeping these guys from having much more noticeable seasons.

Please. The BB rate, dude.

Escobar promoted?

Last nite Edwin Escobar didn’t pitch his regular turn for the rooks in AZ. Keith Campbell did pitch in relief for Spokane however, which means he’s not taking his regular turn Sunday. Ocampo or Henry might be starting instead, getting another shot after some time in the pen. But I wonder if Escobar has been promoted to make the Sunday start SPO?

Care to speculate why did they promote Majewski over Gentry to OKC?

Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland -Tom Grieve Rangers Minor League Player of the Year
Martin Perez - Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year

by RangerMad on Aug 9, 2009 11:24 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Golson and Gentry are both CF'ers ... so maximize their CF PT

And … putting on my Jason Cole cap … Scott Servais likes to keep groups together and encourage them to compete. Gentry is one of Frisco’s best players and they’re in a playoff battle. And Majeswki can be easily yo-yo’ed back to the TL when Borbon is sent back down.

just fyi

The Tri-city media dude sez Henry’s starting for SPO tonight. No Escobar I guess. sniff
