80-62
Hey guys, the earlier the season ends, the earlier Adam continues his Sammy Sosa is not a HOFer and Greatest Rangers of All Times series. Go Rangers!
Edit - Josey pointed out our record is 80-62, so in the interest of accuracy, I'm changing the headline.

13-8 to finish the season gets us to 93 wins
There is still a chance.

If you type "there's a chance" into google image search
You come up with this and this.
Odd.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Because the team
fundamentally hasn’t made up any ground in months. Its not surprising you are hearing the same thing. Tough to believe they are going to make up all the ground in the final weeks if they couldn’t do it in months.

The beacon of optimism is now dimmed.
Not totally squelched but we’re getting to the point where crazy, unexplainable, “that’s baseball” moments need to start happening.
Having Chris Davis, who still needs to hit in the 8 hole with Young & Hamilton out of the line-up, go 3 for 19 (.158) v. Baltimore & Seattle is a big reason we went 2-4 at the worst time of the year. Texas had gone 6-1 v. Seattle at home before this past weekend.
I think the clip of Nolan Ryan at the end of the game on Saturday night, sitting in the rain with a “fuck you, world” look on his face said it all.
No doubt at the same time Ryan was toughing it out in the rain, the twit of a GM was up in a suite, wearing a snuggie and drinking cocoa so he could, you know, be able to better monitor any minor league happenings that might involve the Rangers.

Beacon of optimism
A true “beacon of optimism” wouldn’t have predicted 73 wins for This Thing.
To still be in the playoff hunt this late in the season, with Hamilton, Kinsler, and Young all being injured for good periods of time; with this many rookies in key roles; and with only one starting pitcher who was in the rotation on Opening Day, I’d say this team has massively exceeded expectations. And the GM and manager deserve a lot of credit for that.

I'm beginning to worry about Holland
I know that the odds are against all four of the “big” prospects (Holland, Feliz, Smoak, Perez) working out and achieving their potential in the bigs. Can’t-miss prospects miss every year, and I’m trying to come to grips with the fact that at least one of these guys may turn out that way. And as I do, my gut (nowhere near as accurate and infallible as Warsh’s Gut) tells me that Holland may be that guy.
When he’s out there dealing and pitching complete game masterpieces, he looks determined and unstoppable. But when adversity hits and he struggles as he has of late, I just get this “oh no, what do I do now?” vibe from his facial expressions. I truly hope he has the testicular and mental fortitude needed to overcome adversity, make adjustments, and learn consistency with his approach, but man, sometimes I wonder whether he has it.
I look at Feliz and see a guy with superhuman stuff, a guy who knows how good his stuff is, and a guy who is fearless about using his stuff, and a guy who, once adversity does hit him, will just get pissed and blow hitters away to prove that he’s the one in charge. I look at Holland see a guy who has really good stuff, a guy who is capable of blowing any hitter in baseball away, and a guy who can show that fearless attitude, but I don’t see that attitude with every pitch and every appearance.
I realize that this could be a case of me hastily pulling out the ol’ jump to conclusions mat. Holland has had a long, tough season and I realize that not every star pitcher dominates from day 1 and never looks back. So, I hope I am being hasty in this assessment. But still, I just have that nagging feeling about him.
Thoughts?

I think he is a youngster
who was used to blowing away minor leaguers with stuff, and will have to learn to pitch in the majors.
He’s going to have to figure out what to do when his fastball location is iffy for a game. At his age, its not completely unheard of. I certainly wouldn’t panic yet, as he has definitely shown flashes.

He is a 22yo rookie
He is still learning. He may not end up being a #1 or #2 that some predicted but I don’ tthink he will fall flat on his face and not end up a good mid-rotation starter.

Stop thinking too much. When Holland does not have command of at least two pitches
he’s toast. These are growing pains that every pitcher faces, especially the young ’uns.

His slider sucks ass
thats a huge problem. People keep saying that Feliz will start in AAA next year but unless something big happens, Holland needs to go to AAA and either fix the slider or get a real curveball.

Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Oh, and uh, on a side note,
Kanye West? What a piece of shit.

shit,
I’ve never seen either one. Don’t care too.
I’m just talking about a grown ass man who walks up on stage when it ain’t (pardon my unsophistication here) his turn and takes the mic from a little girl. What a cocksucker.

Haven't seen either video, myself
I find it interesting that in the news this weekend you’ll find both Kanye and Dr. Norman Borlaug. Kanye is in the news for acting like a fool. Dr. Borlaug is in the news for passing away at age 95, having saved more lives than any human being who ever lived, yet never becoming rich or famous because that didn’t interest him.
Kanye fancies himself as some sort of influential figure in America. He could learn a thing or two from Dr. Borlaug.

I think Taylor Swift should be thankful
I didn’t even know who she was before that happened last night.
Now she gets tons of publicity and sympathy.
Great p.r. for her.

Yeah, you're probably right,
Doesn’t take away from the shittiness of the action though.

She's also 17.
You’re going to have to wait a few more months to start fantasizing legally.
Give me team chemistry and emotion over stats any day. Do you think 34,000 Ranger fans were screaming their asses off over Pudge and his .275 OBP?

She's 19 haha

But it’s undeniably good pop. I’m assuming, of course, that the 3 or 4 singles I’ve heard are representative.

Taylor Swift
I don’t listen to country music or have kids, but I know who she is. Didn’t much like her music the one time I heard her (on SNL) but she was pretty decent on CSI in a guest role last season.
