Happy birthday, Jerry Don Gleaton
Happy birthday to Jerry Don Gleaton, who turns 52 today.
Jerry Don Gleaton, a Brownwood native with one of the great baseball names ever, was the Rangers' first round draft choice in 1979 out of the University of Texas, and made his major league debut that July. A hard-throwing lefty, he lasted in the Ranger organization for only a year and a half before being sent to Seattle in one of those ridiciulous many-player trades that the M's and Rangers seemed to specialize in back then.
He then bounced around from team to team, mostly pitching in relief, with his last major league appearance being with the Pirates in 1992. He stuck around long enough to appear in over 300 games in the majors.

John Butcher is a pretty good baseball name for a pitcher.
According to AJM’s nickname guide, the other guy’s nickname would be “Cocky”.
