Happy birthday, Mark Parent
Happy birthday to Mark Parent, who turns 48 today.
Parent was a career backup who the Rangers picked up prior to the 1991 season from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Scott Coolbaugh. He promptly blew out his knee and missed virtually all of the 1991 season, appearing in just three September games and getting one at bat, before leaving as a free agent after the season. He bounced around the league for a while, retiring after the 1998 season.

There's a guy I thought of waaay too often
It seemed like every other pack of cards I’d open had Mark Parent in them from when he was with the Padres. I could probably shingle my house with them.
Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
