Today's College Football Thread

Well, with baseball season officially done it's time to turn my attention to my #2 sporting interest. Some big games out there today. Here are some of the notables.

Cal @ Min.

Tenn. @ Florida

USC @ UW

Tulsa @ OU

Neb. @ Va Tech

Utah @ Oregon

Mich. St. @ Notre Dame

Cin. @ Oregon St.

Florida St. @ BYU

Georgia @ Arkansas

Texas Tech @ Texas

I can guess what game many of you will be watching. I, of course, have a big interest in my Utes in Eugene.

I took Over 53 in Calif / Minnesota

Felt great about my chances at half but I may have to grind out a winner.

Thinking about jumping on Nebraska but haven’t committed just yet.

I can’t figure out where to go on Texas / Texas Tech. I’m a Tech grad but have no issues betting against them when I see an edge.

I know the Horns on talent alone should be a 10.5 point favorite but Vegas makes money by having equal amounts of money bet on both sides. John Q Public is all over the Longhorns and John Q regularly gets his ass beat by Vegas.

I know the line is also driven up by what happened to Tech last year in Norman.

Tech did lose Harrell & Crabtree but Leach always comes up with a good QB (Potts was highly recruited) and he always spreads the ball around so the offense is balanced. Those losses were big but there is so much infrastructure left on the team that has big game experience.

I also know that Tech regularly gets a bone in the ass from the officials whenever they play the Horns, especially down in Austin.

The game is going to come down to whether or not Potts can handle the hostile atmosphere and variety of blitzes thrown at him by that wristband-wearing cocksucker Muschamp.

Still pondering which side to play.

Tech has 1 scholarship DE traveling to Austin

and UT got another DB back from the academic clearing house late this week.

It depends on what the spread you can get at this point. I would not be surprised to see Texas to win by 20+.

Right now the line is 18 to 18 /2 with an O/U of 66 1/2

Cali / Minnesota got there.

Took Nebraska +6, Over 51 and the moneyline at +180.

Got in bed with Florida -30 v. Tennessee.

Not a bad pick on the Ten/Fl bet

I think Ten plays them much closer than people expect.

The real interesting game for me is going to be OU/Tulsa. 18 1/2 point spread might be giving OU to much credit without a QB and a bad offensive line.

The only reason I took Florida was because

it was a Hitzges double play.

I went small on it because I was leery about giving that many points when the Tennessee DCoordinator used to be in the NFL.

Florida has great athletes but those aren’t a bunch of dogs over at Tennessee and they are very capable of being coached up with enough sophisticated schemes to at least cover the 30.

TCU Game

Any predictions on how bad Texas State will get beat?

Didn't play overrated tonight

It has to be the best TCU Offense in a long while but the defense really took a hit this year with the lost of Stephen Hodge and Jason Phillips. By the way what happened to your TCU website?

TCU compliance

The short version is I have several connections in the TCU athletics office, personaly, and I am employed by TCU, so they asked me to stop because I was a liability to them… I guess I know to much. O well, I have other invitations to write, you may see my name pop up in the star telegram soon…

anyone else love watching Jake Locker play QB?

i think he’s my favorite college FB player, I loved him when he was a FR and now that they have a good coach he looks even better. Great athlete with a really underrated arm, he’s still raw, but i love watching him play.

Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'

Nebraska hanging very tough but taking FG's instead of 6's

is gonna get them in the end. The Over 51 is out the window.

Florida -30 is gonna be a grind but the Vols look like they’re at the tipping point and about to unravel.

I still don’t know what side to take in Tech game.

Florida -30

way, way, way, way, way, way, way too many points Florida was giving up in that one. Not a good play.

Shitty day...

I could care less about your picks (or mine for that matter), it was just a bad loss. The new QB has very little accuracy throwing the ball and today it cost them.

Didn’t expect them to go undefeated again, but thought they should have been able to beat Oregon. Tough loss, just hope they can bounce back.

Jimmy Clausen is really really good

 best QB in college football.

usa

He's come a long way over his time at ND.

Now living up to the ridiculous expectations people and himself included put on him.

Except he won’t win 3 National Titles like he wanted.

He won't even sniff a National Championship game.

Finally — FINALLY! — those tools that made him arguably the top prospect in the past decade not named Terrelle Pryor are starting to prosper.

Moar liek yes

Clausen has been pretty inaccurate this year. Floyd is probably a first round talent, and Tate is probably a third, maybe second. And Kyle Rudolph just extends the bevy of good tight ends that Notre Dame has had for the past 4 years. Not to mention the amount of screen plays that are called.

Clausen is overrated and a chump.

"inaccurate"??

hah. you’re definitely an idiot.

by Longhorn on Sep 20, 2009 6:21 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ok

but by watching the games and how many passes Clausen has left short, or thrown too high that probably would have been otherwise picks, he’s been pretty inaccurate this season.

BYU… losing. Alas, Boise State might want to make their reservations for Tempe again.

Fuck you...

you old ass piece of shit. 2 undefeated seasons and BCS wins in 5 years will get you taken seriously. Whether your ignorant ass likes it or not. They lost half their offense from last year including their QB. They weren’t going to go undefeated in back to back seasons. However I’ll guarantee you they get back to the BCS before Tech even gets there once, speaking of teams to not be taken seriously.

The Utes would wipe their asses with Tech.

Through three in Austin, it's Texas 23, Tech 17.

And Texas facing a 3rd and long to start the fourth. Two defensive stops could win this game for either team.
