Well

Ron Washington is a fucking idiot for not using a defensive sub in the 9th.

Fortunately, we had some luck on our side tonight.

And Elvis. Damn he was so smooth on that DP. I love you Elvis.

Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Good decision

by RW to start Blalock tonight. Poor decision to have him in there in the 9th inning. (

Concur...

and why the hell did he pull Feldman in the 7th? The guy was rolling. Still had under 100 pitches, had retired 6 in a row, there wasn’t a tough lefty coming up or anything. I was just as puzzled as Feldman was that Wash pulled him. That was stupid imo.

This was Felsdman's last home start

I think Wash wanted Feldman to leave the mound to a ovation. Not that many in the crowd realized it was his last home start.

I sure didn't

but that’s actually not a bad reason. Guess he might not have explained it to Scooter though.

This was one of those rare games where defense made the difference

Pitching OK both ways, little hitting by either team, good bullpen work. It isn’t often that the little winning difference came with the glove (despite Hank’s boo boo)

Ron Washington

Is there any question that he is a fucking idiot? He should be fired for that lack of defensive change.

Flashback

To the Rangers’ blueprint for victory this summer—great pitching, great pen, (mostly) great D, not a great OPB but some power to produce runs. Doesn’t allow for a huge margin of error. Adam’s analysis a few days ago was right on the mark—no hitting and especially no power—then fewer wins.

Very good

He used his change up more than I can remember him doing in any other start this season. He really only made one bad pitch, a hanging curve to Napoli.

Feldman

I don’t think I have ever seen Feldman throw as many quality change ups in one start as he did tonight. He really used his off-speed stuff well today. His K rate continues to creep higher as the season goes on and his FIP continues to fall. And he is 8-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his last ten starts.

I would really like to see him the season strong and get to 20 wins. That would be pretty remarkable for a starter that began the year in the bullpen.

by Stephen Rushin on Sep 19, 2009 9:52 PM CDT reply actions

Heh, it's nice to have a win
so if a band you really liked that no one heard of

came out with a catchy song. A good, but catch song that got a lot of play on radio would you be mad?

To answer that question, no and maybe. No, because the song is good, unlike 99% of music on the radio nowadays. Maybe, if it’s not the most deserving song the band has released.

by jdh90 on Sep 19, 2009 10:02 PM CDT reply actions

I wouldn't really put it in that category

That song seems to be sorta polarizing among Weezer fans (something like, it’s either a brilliant piece of music, or they’re trying too hard or it doesn’t suit their style), but I love it. Great song. I think I’d push it above Undone (The Sweater Song) in my favourite songs from the Blue Album.

Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

Depends.

Bands can write great catchy songs and not compromise musicianship.

See: Foo Fighters – My Hero or Everlong.

Even if the Rangers win out

they need help at this point from either the Boston or the Angels. They lost control of their own destiny with the loss to the Angels.

Though one would have to hope that the Halos lose at least one game outside the ones we would have to beat them in.

Yep, they probably will

on the other hand, I haven’t seen many signs in the last 2 months that this club will run the table. Since August started, this team is a 500 ballclub, and that isn’t going to get it done.
