Salty's Back, Davis at 3rd, and Hank at 1st
Per Newberg:
"According to at least one local report, Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be activated off of the disabled list today. The report indicates that Saltalamacchia plans to have thoracic outlet syndrome surgery after the season to address the pain and numbness in his throwing arm, but that in the meantime he'll be available to serve as a pinch-hitter, designated hitter and emergency catcher.
Also, Chris Davis is tonight's starting third baseman. Hank Blalock gets the start at first base."
Me no likey. I would have prefered to have seen Omar there, or even the ghost of Travis Metcalf.

Why is Smoak even an option on this poll?
I am pretty sure he’s not even being considered by the Rangers at all, since he’s probably on a plane right now to wherever the World Cup, or whatever it is, is going on. May as well put Mitch Moreland and Johnny Wittleman on there
Go Rice Owls!
I saw it mentioned in an earlier thread
sounded like fun to me.
That's why they call them business sox
+1
Bad for the defense, bad for the offense.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

none of the above
I think the way for us to maximize our offensive output would be to put Salty @ 1st and Davis at third, we are so good up the middle that a giving up a little on the corners wouldn’t hurt that much
salty is emergency catcher
dude can’t throw the ball more than 10 feet. vizquel might catch before him

5th inning against the Tigers
wrong
He’s good for about 4 innings before the numbness sets in and he can’t feel the ball or his release point. Basically he is there as a DH/PH off the bench but can catch if need be.

Thanks for the inside scoop.

Is he going to be working
on his swing/batting approach during this time?

Salty is probably worse than Hank at first defensively
Since they both provide zero offensive production, you take the better defender.

WHY
God it just set in. Have to watch Blalock play first again. No Mike Young in the line up. That’s fucking cold, baseball gods.
yes
hopefully it gets everybody motivated to step it up. hopefully that will be enough to beat toronto, bal (54-79), cle (58-73), sea (69-64), oak (59-74) and maybe, maybe he’s back for the angels

5th inning against the Tigers
fucking awesome
2-4 hank
0-4 davis
GIDP – davis (1)
yep. this will never work. i think that hank’s presence on the field makes davis fail. hank’s obviously the problem.
