Well the bright side is this season was way more fun than last.
Hopefully next season is even better. I guess we still have feldman making it to 20 wins to look forward too.
I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'
I'm going to spend part of the offseason
Thinking about the line drive that Marlon Byrd didn’t catch.

I’m guessing Newberg isn’t going to be sending out any more emails comparing Holland stats to Halliday’s for this season.

Dutch needs to have a learning experience off the field with Mike Maddux
I don’t see the difference between continuing to run him out there right now and continuing to run Millwood out there anymore.
Dutch was rushed this year, and aside from that one dominating 5-start stretch it’s been painfully apparent. Skip him the next time through and let him work on his shit.

Holland will be fine
Retain faith.. His K/BB ratio is still the best amongst this team’s rotation, last I checked. The HR rate is a concern, but currently his HR/FB rate is unbelievably high. That’s going to regress to the mean, and I have a feeling we’ll be swooning for Dutch again in no time.
I like steak.
There is very little reason to not be stoked about Derek Holland.
Just because he hasn’t been lights out doesn’t mean he isn’t a drool-worthy rookie, especially given his minor league performances.
I wonder if Kins will end up with 30/30
Surely he will.. but I thought he’d be around 35/35 by now..
the preceding post was a great success.
well i never really thought he would get 40 hr
but before the injury anyway he had a chance at least.

Anybody see this, linked over on the sidebar under the fanhouse thing? ----->
Bradley gave the Daily Herald the privilege of a one-on-one interview with him on Saturday, but as is his normal routine, he gave short and terse answers to all of the questions he was asked. Well, except for one. When he was asked if he’s enjoyed his time in Chicago, Bradley became an open book.
“Not really,” he said. "It’s just not a positive environment. I need a stable, healthy, enjoyable environment. There’s too many people everywhere in your face with a microphone asking the same questions repeatedly. Everything is just bashing you. You got out there and you play harder than anybody on the field and never get credit for it. It’s just negativity.
“And you understand why they haven’t won in 100 years here, because it’s negative. It’s what it is.”
Asked whether he was talking about the fans, the media or even the Cubs organization, he replied: “It’s everything. It’s everybody.”
Sounds like Milton needs to come back where Ron can babysit him.

I wouldn't mind personally.
If the Cubs ate a good chunk of that contract and was willing to take Millwood in return (even if the Rangers would have to eat some of that deal), it would be a pretty big boost for this offense.
Yep
If we have to put up with Ron managing this team, there might as well be a tangible reason to justify it.

It's a lot more to do with the fact that this team desperately needs guaranteed production out of the DH spot.
I don’t see many options here unless they decide to DH Hamilton and go with a Murphy/Borbon/Cruz OF.
After being on the side that was pretty upset over Milty's departing Texas comments
and after seeing the offense this year.
I’m in agreeance.

Why's that?
(Seriously, I don’t know much about their new owners)
After MB's comments, I don't think the new owner Ricketts, who claims to be a "fan's owner,"...
will do anything to accomodate MB. Ricketts also said he sees the Cubs as an “investment” and picking up Milly’s contract doesn’t seem like a good business move.
if it means getting rid of Uncle Milty
it might be, especially if Milty has alienated the fans.

MB through his volatility
Likes Wash, likes playing for Wash, enjoys Hamilton Kinsler and Young, should appreciate the kids, and has proved he can do well in this lineup. If he’s willing to play DH and occasionally on the grass, I’d really like to see him back. I love good attitude, but I put talent and application ahead of it.

Maybe they will be more likely to just give him away to get rid of him. Hopefully the Rangers will accept a hand-out, since they qualify as a charity case, it seems.

14 games over .500
at what point this season did we 1st reach that mark? I’m asssuming we have now been playing .500 ball for a horribly long stretch. Stayed in the race awhile as Boston wasn’t playing all that well either for a stretch.

Why the hell...
do you pull Feliz for Jason Grilli? He would have been out of the inning if it wasn’t for the stupid shift that shouldn’t have been on in the first place. If you think you still have a shot to beat the Halos in a 1 run game who would you rather have out there? Jason Grilli or Neftali Feliz? Again, seems like a no-brainer.
It seems like Washington is frustrating me more and more every game.
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates
Grilli is dead to me
Isn’t it pretty clear that he lost whatever he had when he went on the DL. He has been dogshit since that injury.
I thought it be all warm and shitty, but it just tasted like normal beer. It was still cold.
I would be surprised and disenfranchised if the Rangers invite Grilli to spring training
Well, maybe not quite disenfranchised, but perplexed for sure. There are many better options than Grilli for 2010.

Lack of Consistency
I think the idea (correct me if I am wrong) is that many relievers are not consistent. The possibility that a grab bag of NRI relievers this ST would probably produce somebody similar to Grilli circa 2009 is probably greater than Grilli 2010 being as productive as he was earlier this season.

Like I said in the GDT
I think that was Wash throwing in the towel. He knows this offense isn’t scoring right now, and this team is terrible at coming back late (second-lowest OPS in the AL after the 7th inning). I think he pulled Feliz there because he was at 20 pitches and wanted him to be avaiable again in two days instead of three, and he didn’t think we where gonna come back.
And I get that, to a certain degree, but just like with Feldman Saturday night, I think you let Feliz try to get one more out there.

“throwing in the towel” and yet trying to make sure Feliz is available in two days does not compute. The season is now over. At least Feliz can go in two days…..awesome
