Rangers featured on This Week in Baseball (9/26)
According to this article, several Rangers will be featured on Saturday's episode of This Week in Baseball.
The longest-running sports anthology show in television history, which airs at 2:30 p.m. CT on FOX, will take viewers on a tour of the pregame activities at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington with young star Ian Kinsler, analyze how Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan has turned back the clock on his pitching staff and delve into Ivan Rodriguez's celebrated return to Texas.
Before there was Baseball Tonight, we only got our baseball fix once a week.
The greatness of Mel Allen narrated the show. His catchphrase was "How About That!". He was one of the many commentators in the baseball scene at the end of The Naked Gun in 1989. You can watch that hilarious clip here.

Is that that thing that airs before the FOX saturday game of the week?
I always thought that was just pregame shit.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

oh, LSJ, how young you are.
It used to come on after Saturday morning cartoons. Oh, that’s right, you probably don’t know what Saturday morning cartoons are, either.

Th cartoon Network use to only air once a week?!?!?!
Jeeez, the players JD picked up in the Tex trade have barely made any kind of meaningful contributions to the Rangers in The Show, but the pro-JD crowd is still running around shouting "I told ya so."

OT: Cartoons in General
have gotten much worse over the last 20 years. I used to love watching reruns of shows like the Flinstones, Super Friends, etc., but now they’re replaced with stuff that’s no where near as good as the originals.

Bah, its just as you grow older
Our kids today will love shows and lament the stuff kids 10 years younger than them will love and they will say the same stuff.
As an example. I watch an episode of MMPR when I was in high school and said what a stupid show. Atleast Voltron had a good plot to it……
Then I saw an episode of Voltron on CN and almost wished I hadn’t. Same stupid shit.

I liked the Voltron episodes...
with the mechanical cats, but not the ones with the little cars or spaceships or whatever.

YES.
Lion Voltron ruled, the car one was just crap.

Heh.
Point taken.
Actually, I never did watch Saturday morning cartoons as a kid. When I was real young my folks where too busy propping me up in front of “Davey and Goliath” videos and other crap like that, and when I got into the double digits I was either watching the NASCAR Busch series on Saturdays, or whatever old shows they where rerunning on channel 56.

It used to be a stopdown for me
in the Mel Allen days. Now I never watch it.

Same here.
Hello Everybody….
It was so much better when they would show all of the stuff from around the league for the past week. Of course, back then we didn’t have BBTN so it was actually cool to see highlights that I hadn’t seen before.

i only watch it when I'm at a Rangers ballgame

I tried to never miss it when Mel Allen was alive, i catch it every now and then
these days, with so many sports channels and Mel Allen gone it’s just not the same as it was years ago.

I watched it and...
they did a great job with it. I enjoyed it!!
Now I don’t know if Hank was being a bitch or was that a bit? I’m pretty sure it was being a bitch.
HH is that a sock in your puppet or are you happy to see me?

I have to admit the Hank part was pretty funny

Ian was giving a tour of the locker room to this week in baseball...
He stopped by a few lockers. Everybody was cool and accomodating and then he goes by Hanks. Ian says look this week in baseball is here, Hank looks at him with a scowl and says “you got a question”? He couldn’t be bothered. He doesn’t appear to have a lot of personality but he could of just been in a bad mood.

Loved TWIB notes
When I was a kid I didn’t have cable so the only thing I could watch to keep up on sports was the evening news, TWIB and the George Michael Sportsmachine (Sun night). Somewhere I have an old VHS tape by TWIB recapping baseball in the 80s.
