2009
Well the Angels have clinched the West, and with one boston win, or Rangers loss the Wild Card will be theirs. So the playoff chances are over now, and I know some of you are like "Yes Orange we've been telling you that for 3 weeks now" Well fuck you, okay? We still had a chance. I had so many emotions this season back in May we were flying high 4.5 games up in our division feeling like we could win the west, and kick godzilla's ass at the same time. Then slowly over the months that feeling has changed. It's gone way down, and then way back up before finally staying way down.
When asked was this season a disappointment I don't know what to say really. You know we weren't expected to be this good this season, so that must make it a step in the right direction, but then again this season could have been so much more. We had plenty of chances and sucked when the pressure came on. Part of that may be due to the fact it's a really young team who has never been under this kind of pressure before now. Then again our veterans didn't play too great under pressure either. But if I had to choose an answer I'd have to go with it was a step in the right direction. No matter how many chances we blew it was still a step in the right direction. This season showed us how good we MIGHT be next year. Feldman has been fantastic, and Holland for his first season wasn't too bad. He had moments of brilliance, and weeks of bad pitching. Feliz well he basically was some sort of magical human who was so good it didn't seem real.
This season has had some of the most rangertastic moments ever. The sweep of the Angels, The sweep of the Red Sox. All the walk-offs, Holland one hitting the Angels. Feliz striking out his first four batters as a major leaguer, and of course Elvis making fantastic play after another. It's been an amazing season, and the first season in awhile where we could actually scoreboard watch into September. Everyone involved with the rangers was apart of the playoff race in 2009, and that is giant leap into the right direction. There are no guarantees next year, but you'd think the young guys we have now will just get better, and if thats the case the Angels might be the ones looking out onto the field as we celebrate clinching the 2010 division.
This one is for you Biguns

I have to say it has been a fantastic season.
To be where we are – most people had us as a sub .500 team – despite the many injuries too:
1)Frankie’s shoulder and DL x3
2)Harrison and Salty’s thoracic outlet
3)BMac’s freak Scapula stress fracture
4)Ian, Jones, and Young’s hamstrings
5)Hambone’s disc herniation
And look at the myriad of guys we threw on the mound -
1)Nippert, Hunter, Holland, Feldman weren’t even supposed to be in the rotation
2)Grilli and O’Day were randoms picked up on the wire
3)CJ was a question mark coming off elbow surgery last year
The rookies who came up strong -
1)Elvis, Borbon, German
I know lately the team has underperformed, but that was simply because they raised our expectations of them as the season went on – this cannot be discounted!!! Raise a glass to 2009 guys – this was one of the few enjoyable seasons I have watched in 30 years as a Rangers fan!

German isn't a rookie
And Feldman was supposed to be in the rotation. That decision will stand as one of the more perplexing ones for awhile

the only thing I hate wasting about this season
is the great record against good teams. It’s gonna tough to match that record against the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, and Angels, let alone win more against them in 2010. Then again, we’ve got a lot of room for improvement record-wise against the weaker teams and the NL.

WOOOOO i.Orange very well done sir!

Nicely written i.Orange and thank you for the video clip mastery, it’s the perfect balance of fail and cow bell just like I asked. I about spilled my coffee when I saw the poor thing epically fail at the end just like the Rangers
2010 has always been the target date so I’m cool with all the good things that happened this year and there were a lot of them.

I’m only a freshman in high college, but I hope I talk for alot of people in this thread. I’ve gone pretty much my entire life (since I’ve been paying attention to sports in the MId 90’s) and honestly, of all the Dallas teams I have rooted for, this has to be the team which I have the 2nd most amount of pride for, only behind the 99 Stars. Now whether that says more about the DFW sports landscape for the past 13 years or about the Rangers, I dont know. But I do know this. At the end of the day, I can go out and say I’m a Rangers fan with a sense of pride. These aren’t the same old Rangers. The losing is over! Believe in JD, Nolan, RW, Maddux, and the players (notice I left out Hicks). We will back. Live to fight another day and who knows what will happen – Texas Rangers – 2010 AL West Champions?
btw, nice job on the writeup Orange

They aren't over yet Iorange!
The Rangers can still win out and the Red Sox can lose out which would force a playoff.
Is it unlikely? Yes! But not much more unlikely than when you were saying they were in it weeks ago.

this video mirrors the Rangers quite well i.Orange..
Bertha used to weigh 400 lbs, lost a lot of weight, and she’s feeling sexy and cocky like the Rangers after years of fail, she has an epic collapse at the end like the Rangers did and knows she has a lot of work to do before she can really feel sexy, like the Rangers do. If she eats one more cupcake I’m pretty sure she could be under consideration to be the sister city to Arlington.

lol wow.
put a lot of thought into it, huh? I agree. Last night we fell and hit our huge ass on a table, but once we get up and our butt heals we’ll be fine.

Nice
Except for the
All the walk-offspart. If you are referring to walk-off wins, there haven’t been that many. Maybe if there had been more of those, the Rangers would have shown a little more fight in games when they were down late in the game. To me, it looked like they never expected to win if they weren’t leading after the 6th inning.
"What ... 92 miles per hour?" Feldman scoffed. "That's not gas. Feliz throws gas."

We will win next year
We may have lost this year but I belive we will do better next season. We got some experience for the rookies and stuff. So it wasn’t such a bad season. We will just have to try next year

Congrats on a good season Rangers.
I appreciated the season a whole lot more than seasons past because of the challenge from your ballclub.
I look forward to doing it all again in 2010.
