I liked Jeff's response to the idea of a move to central Dallas

People forget FW will be bigger than Dallas one day.

(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."

hmm

maybe, but Dallas will still have more residents located directly around it

not a maybe

Dallas cannot grow any further in size. You’re right about suburbs.

Coming from Fort Worth – i’m prideful about Cowtown. So, when people say they’re taking a trip to Dallas and are actually in Fort Worth, or get pissed b/c RBiA is fairly central in DFW, i get hacked.

Dallas may not grow further in size

but it’s hardly built out at present. Dallas has about 500,000 more people than Fort Worth homer. It may someday have more people than Dallas, but that day is a long way off if it ever comes.

Prideful about Dallas?

Even more ridiculous. I’m not even sure Dallas is the third best city in Texas.

Huh?

How am I prideful about Dallas?

Resign Padilla?

I’m all for it, so long as we put him in the rotation with Sidney Ponson and fire Mike Maddux to replace him with Kenny Rodgers. He’s always been good here right; let’s make him our pitching coach!

Byrd

I wouldn’t give him $15 million for three years. It’s just not a good use of resources.

by Darrell McKown on Sep 3, 2009 6:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Nope. Epescially not when your manager doesn't optimize his usage, either.

Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

I would miss Byrd if we couldnt' resign him

but I wouldn’t mind seeing some more Borbon and possibly a glimpse of Beltre (or is next season too soon?)

Dear sweet lord baby jesus

I hope so, if Rudy is still here. Kid would K while he was still on-deck.

Look at the comments under Jeff Wilson's blog post on dallasnews.com. What a bunch of rocket scientists.- Keith Law

Yeah, maybe the 'glimpse of Beltre'

isn’t such a good idea…I just like to see our prospects.

most all the questions that he answers

break down to the same concept:the Rangers don’t have any money. Hope this team gets bought in the offseason so he can answer a little differently next year.

It is a great thing to know the season for speech and the season for silence.

the preceding post was a great success.

Man I was just about to paste that same question....

It made my head hurt.

yeah that was ridiculous

he either made that up or threw it in there exclusively so he could make that cheesy joke about ticket prices.

TR should leave the BBWAA and join a...

…third grade remedial reading class. Both groups would get smarter from his move. Well the BBWAA would anyway.

I wouldn't count on that

The BBWAA hasn’t exactly been known as a bastion of intellect in recent years…

Ha
Are there any career opportunities for someone who is 24 years old and an avid Rangers fan? I love everything associated with player development and statistics. I’ll do whatever it takes to get into this franchise.
— Nick S., Fort Worth, Texas

How do you feel about buying the team?

Seriously, if you are interested in a job in baseball, the best way is to attend the job fair held every year in December at the Winter Meetings. This year it is in Indianapolis.

I went to that job fair when the winter meetings were here in Dallas in 2005. What a waste of time. There’s about 400-500 people just like you fighting over jobs that will pay you about $350 a month for 85 hour work weeks in the minor leagues.

The few MLB jobs that get posted have 10x the number of applicants so unless you’re already a certified badass you have pretty much no shot.

I had a few offers to go work for minor league teams but I wasn’t a fan of extreme poverty because I’d be working a shit job (but hey! it’s in sports!). So I passed and took a corporate job. My buddy that was with me took a minor league job, which lead to a college athletics job which he hates because he has to work a ton of nights and weekends for not a ton of money.

Working in sports = overrated.
