hmm
disappointing, but ultimately fine by me. let’s stick phillips in his spot in the AFL and see if he’s worth a spot on the 40 this winter.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
That's great
They’re so good at getting the most out of high level pitching prospects w/ a track record of injuries
He'll probably win 15 games for them
This seems to be the trend once we deem pitchers unusable for us.

Armando Galarraga constitutes a trend?

And he never won 15
He won 13 last year and has followed that up with a strong six win season so far in 2009. He was good last year but this year he has been what we thought he was. A guy that gives up too many hits and has a horrible strikeout to walk ratio.

/And we let him off the hook !!
Hank is the elephant in the room. When will he disappear?

I couldn't understand...
…why there seemed to be such a wide-spread sentiment Diamond would clear.
Particularly this time of year, teams can move guys to the 60 day d.l. and find a 40 man roster spot to use, and a team like the Cubs can claim him, hold him for a month or two, then run him through waivers later on and try to get him to clear and outright him.
Right
I expected him to get traded for a D- level prospect. When they put him on waivers, he was gone.

Who thought he would clear?

Hmmmm...
If the Cubs try to run Thomas Diamond through waivers at a later date, can’t Diamond refuse any assignment and elect free agency?

Oops - a player can elect FA if he has previously been outrighted
But Diamond hasn’t been outrighted yet. Outrighting would have come only if he cleared waivers.

I thought hed clear because of how bad hes been this year
He started off in AAA and was horrible and got DEMOTED to AA where he put up a BB/9 of almost 7.5 while giving up a hit an inning. His overall ERA isn’t bad but I imagine that is alot like Jason Jennings in that he allowed all the inherited runners to score when he was brought in the game.

Too Bad
I don’t recall if scouts thought his ceiling was near Danks, but Tommy John surgery just sucks. Good luck to Thomas Dustin Diamond

Too bad
I was expecting him to break out this year, but it never happened. I gotta wonder if his season might’ve been different had he not scrapped that curveball everybody was raving about last year during the spring.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock
Diamond looks to be a good example
of how pitchers don’t always come back strong from TJ surgery. Sucks to lose him, but its no big loss.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
