Is it bad of me to desire to OSU lose to a service academy?

In the Jerry Dome.
I can’t cheer for the Cougs, but it would be great for the MWC to get that win. I just can’t see it happening though.

If Oklahoma can’t put up 45 on that defense then it might be a bad omen for you guys. Of course, it’s the first game of the season, so it may not mean too much.

I'm pulling hard for BYU...
being a TCU alum, I’m rooting for MWC. Not sure BYU can pull it off though. Depends which Cougar defense shows up, the first half one from last year, or the second half defense that began with the TCU/BYU game.

Me too. An upset of OU would bring big props to the MWC, and help TCU's SOS which could use a little boost
Not holding my breath for the upset, though, just hoping BYU can keep it a close game.

by SaltyGoesYard on Sep 5, 2009 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Depends...
Based off strength of schedule, a MWC team that runs the table will get in ahead of Boise State. It’s possible depending on the loss that even a 1 loss MWC team gets in ahead of Boise State. Utah plays Oregon and Louisville also this year, TCU has Virginia and Clemson, BYU has Oklahoma and Florida State. Not to mention those 3 teams get games against each other too. Boise State meanwhile plays Oregon and ummmm crickets. Nobody real worthwhile in conference either. That could come back to haunt Boise State with 1 decent opponent on their schedule against the MWC teams each having 4.

Crazy ending to the Northern Iowa/Iowa game
Iowa leading 17-16, UNI with the ball, :07 left, attempting a 40 yard FG on 1st down. Iowa blocks the kick behind the line but stays away from the ball and lets UNI recover with :01 left. Apparently the rule is if the kick is attempted before 4th down and the ball is block behind the line, if the kicking team recovers, the clock stops and they retain possession. So UNI gets another FG attempt from about the same distance on the opposite hash. Iowa BLOCKS THE KICK AGAIN to win the game and avoids the upset.

bad decision by stoops
better chance of picking up the 4th and 14 than hitting that field goal i think.

I think
he made the right decision given who the QB was.

i don't know
i still think you have a better chance of picking up the first down. 54 yards i don’t think thats makeable with the kickers they have.

There wasn't a good choice available.

Florida and UT both choke games. USC loses to ohio state, big 12 south beat up on each other.

been planning it for a couple weeks now. Tonight’s BYU win makes that look like a huger game now.

Yup to BYU...
I usually take a road trip but I ran into the same trouble with Clemson. Plus traveling there is much harder than to Salt Lake City and an hour down the road to Provo.

This game is so hard to watch...
Both these teams are so bad offensively…
And there aren’t enough words to describe how bad Tyrod Taylor sucks… Between him and Juice Williams at Illinois… Ugh.

its kinda like when i watched
south carolina/nc state thursday except these 2 teams have infinitely more talent and it’s on a more national level
but my moms familys alabama fans so am i, they should be winning this game. alabama keeps kicking themselves in the balls though. the running game and mcelroy (sorta) look to be getting better as the game goes on. and then they’ll get stopped or fumble

good day for me though, watched oklahoma state win (livin here) bamas gonna win barring unforseen circumstances and boston lost. only thing that sucked was the rangers decided 2 innings was enough offense for today and of course hillman fucking up for the 2nd straight night

OU
That’s almost why it’s impossible to run the board in pick `em. OU SHOULD have won that game. Yeah, Bradford got hurt, but even when he was in, the offense was very pedestrian. Last year, they would have been up 30-7 before he got hurt. I certainly don’t like to see OU win, but at the same time, this bodes poorly for the Big 12

how 'bout them Ags?
i definitely didnt expect 600 total yards of offense and zero TDs allowed… Quite a pleasant suprise and gives me some hope for this season unlike the devastation of last seasons Arky state loss

It was New Mexico...
But you can definitely see the Good Guys making very large strides from last season…
Defense is swarming more. Offensive line played well at times and poorly at times. Christine Michael and Cyrus Gray is going to be a very good pairing… Jeff Fuller is a monster. The freshmen receivers looked good too. Just wish Sherm would put Ryan Tannehill opposite Fuller and stop screwing around with the backup QB garbage… Tannehill can take snaps with the 2s in practice even if he’s running receiver with the 1s…
It’s gonna be a tough year in the Big XII, but I could easily see 6-6 with a bowl game… The first three OOC games should be a given. Then just gotta find three between Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, and Kansas State… Very manageable…

Well that didn't go very well
No excuses the Sooners were playing bad before Bradford got hurt. BYU just beat us. I did have one problem last night at the sports bar. There were Longhorn fans there that cheered when Bradford went down and as he was walking off the field those same Longhorns did the chest bump. I don’t mind cheering against a team but to cheer a player that is hurt crosses the line. Almost like the Philly fans with Irvin on the Vet turf.

Same here
It really doesn’t make a difference whos team or player it is I would never cheer for something like that. That is a line you just don’t cross. I love beating the Longhorns but I want to do it with them at full strengh. I don’t want to do it because Colt got hurt or isn’t there.
Like I said the Sooners were playing like shit out of the gate so I’m not using this as an excuse. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

I really hate doing this...
but damn, BYU really helped out the Mtn West last night. Having the 3rd best team in the conference go on the road (and yes that was a road game for the Y) and beat one of the top 2 teams in the BIg 12 is huge. I’ve never been so conflicted over a game. I hate BYU with a passion, but knew a win would help the greater cause.
Utah, TCU, and BYU are going to force the BCS to include the Mtn West. It’s only a matter of time now.

I think BYU gets the BCS berth this year
Not only did they just beat OU, but they have both TCU and Utah at home along with a tested QB in Hall. This could be a banner year for the MW which might just bring up the discussion that they deserve an automatic BCS bid every year.
