not good at all
if they lose it’s over

Thru 2
He’s getting GO’s, coupla Ks, 3 pitches working according to Scooter – of course Scooter is not reliable, but Gut’s FB and CB sound as advertised.
D-Gut.
Thru 3 now.

It doesn't qualify him as an AA player - IIRC -
because he was added after August 1st.
Hogan and Reed are the Rangers’ two A-ball designates – 2’s the limit is what I heard.
So, it seems to me that Gutierrez would have to replace either of those two to play AFL.
I don’t know if that’s legal this late in the AFL pre-season timetable. Guess we’ll find out.
Fuck Zach Phillips

Gutierrez impressed the Midland radio guy
Both his fastball and curveball produced swings and misses.
No walks + 1 HBP in his first AA game pitching for a new organization in a playoff chase suggests that the guy doesn’t rattle.
A starting rotation of Perez, Gutierrez, Gomez, Beavan, and perhaps Main should make Frisco the home of one of the most interesting rotations in minor league baseball next year.
Main has to be in Bakerfield doesn't he?
He’s basically lost a year, starting him in Frisco cold doesn’t seem right. Make him throw 50 or so innings in High-A before you move him.
Main
I’d assume he’d start in bakersfield, but wouldnt be surprised to see him end in frisco.
"I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." - Mitch Hedberg
That's not unreasonable
but I wonder how many innings is he going to throw next year. Because he’s had so few don’t they by definition have to really limit him next year?
You hope he gets some extra ones in the playoffs or maybe the AFL but after all the setbacks he’s had you have to be cautious we don’t do something, like let him throw too much, and cause more problems in the future.
agreed
Having Main and Perez on pitch counts would seriously tax a bullpen. Maybe they would tandem start them for half a year.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland -Tom Grieve Rangers Minor League Player of the Year
Martin Perez - Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year
The Rangers have aggressively promoted stud pitchers
If Main has another good fall and proves to be healthy in spring training, I think the team will allow him to forego more time in the Cal League if their High A team is still in Bakersfield in 2010. Starting Main in extended spring training seems like a better way to limit his innings in 2010 than having him pitch fewer innings per start.
im not sure if they would limit Perez all that much
he’s gotten a good amount of work under him this year

But he is very young
and still growing.

Yeah
I would think a guy like Ryan Tatusko or Tim Murphy would start there before Main
The 2009 Texas Rangers offense: sigh...
I dont think T-Murph's year warrants any kind of promotion
id imagine, if not guarantee he gets the Zach Phillips treatment and goes to the pen, which would probably be a better fit anyways. Tatusko should too, but I do think Main should start in High A. Do not forget about Richard Bleier, that guy should definitely get his shot at AA next year, his peripherals at high A were borderline excellent this year

Bleier? he is very deserving of a shot at AA

Agree
Little to prove in BAK…he’ll be BP material in Frisco at worst in 2010.

can i second call it?

yea, showing some pop in Spokane
he’s looking ready for a breakout in full season ball… it sure would be nice to get another legit positional prospect

Z, what's the story with Tanner Roark
every time I check his stats he’s got a pretty good line. He’s repeating Bakersfield but he’s doing a good job of it. Has something changed with him in the last year?
He’s making his claim to start in Frisco next year.
i really wanted to see him in the afl
i have been intrigued by him for a while now.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
heh
Looks like this guy takes after his older brother.

Not to nitpick, but...
DId you actually take a picture of your monitor when all you had to do was hit the print screen button and then go into MS paint and his “paste”?
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

some people just aren't as advanced as the amazing lonestarJon. If only there was a lonestarjon day.
Where you could teach us all that you know.
I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'
I'm not trying to be an ass.
LSB is actually where I learned to use the print screen button.
I’m just kind of awed that someone would actually take a picture of their monitor. Gives the term “screenshot” a whole new meaning, I guess.

The Daniel A. Cortes reply
is the Dan Cortes who got dealt to Seattle in the Betancourt trade?
Ouch.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
Kennil Gomez going on 3 days rest tonight for BAK
He’ll probably only go 2/3 innings so he can be rested for the playoffs.
The BAK playoff roto looks like it’s setting up to be Gomez/Bleier/Roark – with Tatusko as a 4th starter if needed and Murphy the long guy.
BTW, for the Gomez fans here is some quality video I ran across …
Thanks for the videos, Shroom
And for maintaining the magic calendar for another year. If the internet ceased to be, your calendar is what I would miss the most.
Regarding Kennil, the cut on his fastball is awesome. The ez reports (Gomez/Gutierrez/Perez) next year from Frisco should be a real treat.
Main watch
Michael Main last pitched on the 2nd, so he might be a logical choice to eat some middle innings tonight should Gomez just go a few innings synching up for a playoff start Wed or Thurs.
Main's done - 2 good scoreless innings
He got helped in the 2nd by a base-running mistake [Scoscia Ball!!] that ended the inning and kept Main from having to face a 2-out, 2-on situation. Never heard a gun or even any pitch IDs. The RC radio guy observed that ALL the Blaze pitchers work really steady and fast.
Beltre
I was a little annoyed I didn’t get a chance to see him in frisco, every time i checked the pre game lineups online he wasn’t starting so i didn’t go

Nice rebound effort from Font today after 3 poor starts.
5/3/2/0/0/6
HBP & WP but the 0 walks is very encouraging. He didn’t even give up an exorbitant amount of FBs today.
