We would be allowed to have a 55 man active roster all year.

Plus only play Thurs-Monday. ALways off Tues and Wed. It’s perfect. The pen could make that work right? Although it would be difficult to find 10 starters.

Give me team chemistry and emotion over stats any day. Do you think 34,000 Ranger fans were screaming their asses off over Pudge and his .275 OBP?

If the training wheels ever come off and he becomes a productive and consistent player I will champion him but as it is, the only reason he’s in the line-up every day now is because Jon Daniels drafted him (and it has nothing to do with performance).

You give absolutely no shit to Chris Davis (as stated above). You give it to posters on blogs. Even then, it’s figurative not literal. So back away from the phrase “Davis gets shit from me”, unless you are sending it parcel post collect.

The difference offensively between he and Blalock is miniscule

And Davis is great defensively. The fact Blalock has been worse since the ASB than Davis was at the beginning of the season is another reason Davis is playing.

The fact is we have no good options at 1B this season. So between the two bad ones we do have we are choosing to go with the one whos better defensively and will be here next year and possibly for several years to come. I don’t see how hard this is to understand

In the month of May, Chris Davis hit .189 with a .238 obp

yet the Rangers went 20-9.

So how did they do it?

They had seven other players with OPS above .800 so they were able to carry his sorry ass for the month.

In June, there was one player with an OPS above .800 and they couldn’t carry him any more.

No sir

your argument has been that Chris Davis was bringing “this thing” down because people in the clubhouse were pissed off he was still here sucking such a large cock at the plate. And your theory is that as soon as he went down because he was no longer here we started winning.

If he was such a drain on everyone else then we should not have been able to go 20-9 in May.

Oh and your boy Hank had the 2nd lowest OPS among regular players from July 1st – August 25th (the 28-19) stretch). Only Kinsler had a lower one. So how much exactly did he contribute to that?

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

by bigsteve on Sep 8, 2009 11:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Davis went thru one of his patented 7 for 60 (with 27Ks) / 3 for 44 (with 24Ks) streaks

at the end of May and it was at that point that the team started the heavy platoon with Hank F (while Davis played every day) and it obviously wasn’t playing well in the room or in the field or in the standings.

The moment Hank F started playing every day, the June Swoon magically ended and the team went on a 28-19 streak.

Since the latest changes were made the Rangers are 9-6 which is on pace to hit the 24-15 they need to have to justify this move. Need to 15-9 to get there.

Chris Davis could make the argument moot if he’d finally start hitting.

You boys should have Rhyner on the show as well and the first thing out of the box should be Nelson Cruz and defense.

I dont say this but about once or twice a year

but Josey is right on this one. Sam will never be the same again this year. Honestly, I really hate to see him go back out there because he seems to be a nice guy and has the potential to make millions in the NF of L

Please, Sam, dont go back out there behind that offensive line. Its not worth it. Let big game Boob and that sorry O-line have their 3 or 4 loss season. Its not the end of the world and after some surgery and rehab you’ll be as good as new. It just really scares me for his safety if he goes out there there against Sergio Kindle, Acho and that crew with a tight end playing center

I have agreed with Josey and said some good things about a Sooner. I feel all dirty. I’ll be in the shower for the next three hours if anyone needs me

putting eddie into a game with your inherited runners is a guaranteed -20 in game score…

I thought bill james put that in the rules

Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'

I understand B-Mac's game score wasn't good...

but I’ll take just about any game where our starter makes it into the 7th these days.

No reason whatsoever that Ichabod

should have been out there in the 7th and then going to Eddie G?

You, sir, are the most disrespectful ass on this site.

Can speak of any player by their given name? Or, do you have to give every player you dislike a derogatory nickname?

Should also point out that Carrasco had a 32

and Laffey a 10 for the Tribe.

Worst Game Score of I’ve seen this year went to the Dutch Oven (he had a 3) last week v Toronto.

I didn't have a problem with him going out there in the 7th.

But don’t bring Eddie in. Grilli or O’Day in that situation please.

why thankyou

i should probably explain why the pic didn’t work.

i know it ends in jpg, but however that site is set up that link is still a website destination. right click —> properties (or whatever on your browser) on the pic to get the link to the actual image if you want to use that site to host rather than the link they give you.

although since you found or already had imageshack thats better anyway.

random game and book

Anyone read the dark tower stephen king series? Someone gave me the audio cds for the first book and I’m enjoying it about half way in and enjoying it. Anyone got some perspective on how the whole long series plays out quality wise?

And I got Batman: Arkham Asylum from gamefly today, heard its quite good, anyone played it?

I've read the whole series.

It gets better as it goes. King wrote the early books when he was very young, then he left the series for a long time. When he went back, he was a better writer and it shows.

If you’ve read some of his other stuff, references and tie-ins show up a lot. Especially to The Stand.

Reading these postgame scoreboard watching threads is highly amusing

This place turns into lookout landing when it watches the Angels play.

I love it.

Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

the mass hysteria at Lookout Landing is much more amusing.
