New T.R. Sullivan mailbag up

There's a new T.R. Sullivan mailbag up...

Someone named Cody wants the Rangers to give Jarrod Washburn $20 million over 3 years even though Washburn isn't good, and someone named Roy in Grapevine says the Rangers would win if they'd just make him the coach.

Check it out...

Well if I coached the team

117 wins would be the result.

I'm ready

to see Roy in Grapevine rather than Ron from Louisiana.

Do the Rangers think Darren O’Day is capable of repeating his 2009 performance and what plans do they have with him?

Anybody who has a 1.94 ERA ought to have a spot in the bullpen even if he doesn’t throw the prerequisite 95 mph.

That… that totally doesn’t answer the question. That isn’t even an answer to a question at all. That’s just a nonsensical declarative with shoddy statistics.

Why do people want the Rangers to sign more pitchers

there are already too many. It is just silliness

Go Rice Owls!

by JBImaknee on Jan 18, 2010 3:39 PM CST reply actions

Rangers ain’t never had no pitching in 40 years. When’r they gonna learn to get some pitchin in here? Every year I say, ‘go get some pitchin’ and they never listen and just go get more hitters. Like ARod.

Well I would not have a problem adding another starter....

If they just have budget laying around…..Garland or Sheets namely.

While we have a lot of depth…..most of our depth has huge question marks around it:

Harden – Can he stay healthy?
Feldman – Can he repeat last year?
Hunter – Can he continue to improve or did he already hit his climax? (thats what she said)
Lewis – Can he make the transition from Japan to MLB and still put up at least avg. numbers?
Holland – Can he make those strides from last year so that he can be counted on every 5th day for a solid outing?
Harrison – Can he fully recovery from his injury and show more consistant stuff?
McCarthy – Can he ever be counted on in a rotation?
Hurley – Can he fully recover from injury to work his way back in the mix for the bottom of the rotation?
Mathis – Will he ever be more than a long man / spot starter?

And we also have to consider that this is the Rangers….at least 1 and maybe more of these guys will miss signifigant time.

Eh - you can do that with any team

Mariners had 1 pitcher go for more than 135 IP last year – Rangers 2. Rangers had 5 guys go over 100 IP to the Mariners 2.

"You promised me, Eckstein, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life, there have only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" David Eckstein replied, "Because my little legs had gotten tired, and you were carrying me." And I looked down and saw that I was still carrying David Eckstein.

Then he grounded out weakly to second.

This is good to remember

the other teams in the AL West also have a lot of question marks in their rotations.

This is good news
the Rangers would be wearing the red uniforms more often this season.

Yes! I really like it....

I may be one of the few, but I also really like the look of wearing the red cap with the white home uniform.

I want blue unis with red caps :)

I like this combo, too

The standard white home unis with blue letters / red outlines, with the red caps. It sounded like a bad idea when I heard the players were going to do it, but I really liked the way it looked.

I haven't really researched it

But, I’m pretty sure the Rangers have a fine record when Nellie hits two dongs in one game

by BuckyB on Jan 18, 2010 5:07 PM CST up reply actions

Yes, that look.....

I really like it……I wish they would consider making that the usual home look with the blue caps being used on the road.

by death of the cool on Jan 18, 2010 5:08 PM CST up reply actions

The red sleeves/socks (for those players that show socks)

really makes the red pop on the actual jerseys, and that’s why it works so well.

Why does TR list Feldman instead of Harden as the opening day starter?

Rangers pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Thursday, February 18.

by shroomer on Jan 18, 2010 10:39 PM CST reply actions

He probably thinks...

he earned it with his performance last year on this team. Which I understand to a degree, but if Harden is healthy, he’s the better pitcher and should be the opening day starter.
