Buster_ESPN Heard this: There are a lot of questions among agents about whether the Rangers or LA would have the money needed to sign Ben Sheets (more)
If he stays healthy,
he’ll be an All-Star.
'Waiting for a girl and she gets me into fights
Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
yep
'Waiting for a girl and she gets me into fights
Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
No, I just reallly like his stuff
Plus he has prior NL success, and his numbers will be that much better with a full year in Chavez-Ravine. Obviously he’s gotta keep his head straight, and that’s a legitimate question mark, but I really like what he brings.
I was upset to see him go last year. Don’t know what when on in the locker room, but it seemed like certain players were getting their way. Unlike Ponson, Padz had a track record that would suggest working thru that shit.
'Waiting for a girl and she gets me into fights
Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
He had the best stuff of any starter here
since Rogers decided he didn’t like cameras. You don’t think he’ll put up AS-like numbers in LA, if healthy.
'Waiting for a girl and she gets me into fights
Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
No I don't.
I mean…I agree that he has excellent stuff, but to say that he’ll make the All-Star team…that’s a bit bold. But I will give you props if you’re right.
He could put up "AS-like numbers" if healthy
but with Roy Halladay, Carpenter, Lincecum, Wainwright, Dan Haren, Johan Santana, Chad Billingsley, Matt Cain, Cole Hamels et al, it’s hard to see him making the All Star team
Are you suggesting VP got railroaded by other players?
Please. The guy had good stuff and showed occasional flashes of brilliance, but was regularly mediocre and was prone to mailing in games and having extended bouts of not giving a damn. And by all accounts he was a terrible teammate for multiple reasons.
One good start every few weeks and the promise of “good stuff” was not enough to continually deal with all the other BS he spawned on the field and in the clubhouse.

His meltdowns were magnified.
You know he wasn’t ever gonna get a fair shake with the press, as he had disdain for dealing with them. I don’t know what it was like in the clubhouse. They didn’t like retaliation pitches. Fine. Maybe they tried to talk to him about it and he didn’t pay attention. I don’t know. I know he was released after the Teixeira incident, and he was our best starting pitcher for the time he was here.
Yeah, I definitely think some guys bitched to management. I don’t know if railroading is the word, but they got their way. It’s spilled milk now, and I’m fine with our starting options.
I liked Bradley from the minute we got him as well. I think it’s good for a team to have some crazy mofos. Bradley was their buddy, Padilla’s a non-English speaking loner. Never won him any friends.

Bradley was also, by accounts, a guy who was interested in his teammates and making them better
While Vinny couldn’t seem to care less about his teammates.

They are both
great guys to sign to one year contracts, and not so great to commit longterm to.

At the time the Rangers re-signed Padilla
his market value included a 3 year deal. Additionally, he wanted to pitch here, a rarity for pitchers at the time. If not Padilla, it’s doubtful the Rangers could have attracted another here with his skillset.
Apparently clubhouse chemistry
isn’t a problem in LA…have fun with Manny/Padzilla for a full season.

Wow, only $5mill?
That $1mill will only get him 1 new mazzaratti and a weeks worth of drinks… He must be heading towards sobriety.

What he isn't coming back to Texas?
I am so disappointed. All the sweat that runs off his face kept the pitching mound moist.
I'll miss the stories about him surfing the internet during games...
…my favorite Vinny Padz story of all time.

At least they understand
that Padilla is just a one year sign, not a multiyear deal sign.

We all know now
"Back on the scene, with a gangsta lean" RW
"When you have a weapon on your shoulder like he has, you can be cool." RW on Perez
And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.
No idea
why folks didn’t know back then. Its not like he was a model citizen in Arizona or Philadelphia.

The only pitchers who would entertain signing here were guys with a few warts or to come here to die.
The Rangers knew what they were getting in Padilla, that’s why they were able to trade a bag of balls for him in the first place. If you’ll recall, he wasn’t re-signed when he first arrived, but after pitching here for a year. Apparently, his conduct was deemed acceptable prior to re-signing him.

Ok I give up
How do you put a linked URL in ur sig?
by FormerLSBUser on Jan 21, 2010 10:11 PM CST reply actions
Like this:
(a href=“link url”)link title(/a)
With < and > instead of ( and ).
Actually, it’ll do that whole thing for you if you create a link in a comment – don’t need to post it, just type in the words you want the link title to be, highlight them and hit the link button. Then just copy/paste the whole mess it creates for you into your signature box in your profile.

Whoops, reply fail.
That was meant for PM just above.
Morality you can fake. Fun you either have or you don't.
Ok, so copy this
(a href"http://pmproduction.wordpress.com/")PM Productions(/a)
Paste it into your sig box, and replace the brackets with these < and > things. Should work.
Morality you can fake. Fun you either have or you don't.
Actually, you'll have to insert an "=" sign in between the href and the "
Danged typo.

Maybe they have Wi-Fi in the dugout
So Audrey 3 can check his emails, surf the web, and take care of that whole pesky “be a team player” thing.
