AOL Fanhouse Ranks Top 100 Prospects
Its predictably bad.
Here are the Rangers blurbs:
We got a glimpse of just how special Feliz could be during his late season call-up in 2009. He was dominant in more than 30 innings of work, showcasing his electric upper-90s fastball. Whether he will start or relieve is the long-term question, but either way he should be one of the more fascinating young arms to watch in 2010.
Smoak hit some bumps in the road in 2009 at the upper levels, but most scouts agree that he's still very much on track. The Rangers are deep at first base, so they don't need to rush him. This is a smart player, however, that should be able to adjust and push himself to the majors in 2010.
This is an aggressive ranking for Perez, given his limited experience at the upper levels, but you can make the case that he has the best stuff of any left-handed starter in the minors. The Rangers have a southpaw with the total package, and given his 92-96 mph fastball, feel for his secondary pitches and mound presence, this is one of the few prospects that can truly be projected as a future ace.
After signing late, Scheppers proved he was healthy and worth the hype with an often electrifying showing in the Arizona Fall League. Consistently pitching in the upper-90s out of the bullpen, there is now some debate over what his role should be. His size, pitchability and, of course, raw stuff should allow him to succeed as a starter or a reliever.

I don't see what's bad about it
Frankie has scouted most of those players personally. I’ve questioned him on Stanton before because I was intrigued that he was so high on him, but he has seen a lot of Stanton over the last two years, so I trust his opinion there.
I was wondering if I missed the joke...
Seems reasonable enough. Are they overrating/rushing the rating of Ackley?
If Brad Pitt is playing Beane who do you want playing you?
JD: Eddie Guardado.

I don't think you can.

Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
There were several things on the list that surprised me
but I was much more surprised at how many posters over at minorleagueball.com think they know a lot more about baseball than Piliere does, and how ready they were to just completely dismiss his opinion because he ranked such and such over so and so.

What's the point of reading these lists if you think you know how they're supposed to look and you won't accept anybody else's opinion?
It’s not like prospecting is a scientific certainty.
That said, I was wondering what you guys thought about Profar making yet another list. I’m not going to say I’m worried about the hype he’s receiving, but it seems like that might be a lot of pressure for such a young kid.

Pressure
I think fans are the ones burdened with the pressure associated with prospect hype. Players like Profar have high expectations for themselves that exist regardless of public opinion. I don’t think most players care how they are classified by prognosticators.
Right
It’s only here that we’ll be annoyed when Profar’s stats don’t look shiny enough and several folks start wailing that he’s soooo overrated.

Fair enough
But if I were 17 and getting that kind of recognition, I’d probably care. Then again, that’s yet another reason I’m not a ball player.
