Probably should take Golson off the lists from now on
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
that's right
forgot about that.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

bold prediction
I think Vin DiFazio will be catching and hitting cleanup for Frisco by midseason, and doing both well.
Enjoy now.
should you prediction
have been in bold? :)
He needs to make the top 30.
Vladimir Guererro - 2010 AL MVP
that is bold
and highly unlikely
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Well, there's no reason to think Bakersfield is going to hold him up
He should be in Frisco fairly quickly. Now, how well he does there is another question.
he's only played 18 games in Hickory
I would assume he spends some time back there. I suppose he could move quickly if he gets promoted to Bakersfield and is successful there, but any time a player gets promoted, they can easily struggle with the higher competition.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Bianucci raked in Hickory
much more than Faz. He struggled in Bakersfield.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
His assignment
and LDLS’ could interplay. Depth charts aside, I think they would start DiFazio at Bakersfield, but your example of Bianucci is very apt. Some college players find Low A to be now problem but don’t have the raw talent to keep the curve as they move up. DiFazio should be ready for High A, but it remains to be seen how well he can handle each step from there, and his defense is a question.

a personal fave of mine.

Does Snyder have a chance to make this team?
I can’t see the scenario where he does.

gonna make it. gonna make it. gonna make it.

IIRC, we're going to 30.
But, like Hendrix, it’s so good it might not make it 30.

Beltre #29
Tullis #30
3, 2, and…we’re done.

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.
How about
Ogando around 10? That’s where his talent puts him. Beltre would be the same, just not sure how much his age hinders him.

Agree on Big O
Beltre’s age should hurt him, unless he sticks in the BP and comes on fast.
Completely fouls up Gdawg’s list, however.

Damn on Ogando.
I really cannot wait for some I witness reports from Surprise on quite a few pitchers
I second this motion.

that sounds like a good way to round it off

Frisco's bullpen
could start out with:
Evan Reed
Alexi Ogando
Zach Phillips
Omar Beltre
Corey Young
Beau Jones
and a starter who doesn’t make one of the crowded rotations. That’s a lot of talent for a minor league bullpen.
There is a lot of talent around that
can be used at the trade deadline for an impact player. :)
Vladimir Guererro - 2010 AL MVP
Corey Young is the only one that doesn't consistently throw in the 90s, but its nasty nevertheless.
I just can’t get over the collection of power arms now at Frisco. Let’s see that rotation more time:
Scheppers
Perez
Kirkman
Kiker (he might deserve a promotion, but there are currently 10 SP at ML and AAA levels)
Poveda
Beavan
Not an sub-90 fastball in that group, discounting Kiker’s inconsistencies.
Also, Justin Miller and Main might not be too far behind in Bakersfield.

Kiker
Who are the people in his way?
Harden, Feldman, Lewis, Hunter, McCarthy, Harrison, Holland, ???
Moscoso could be used as a starter. I don’t think Feliz will be in AAA either the ML pen or ML starter. Hurley is probably gonna start the year back in AZ until May 1st or so.
I think both Kiker and Poveda get the bump to OKC. Especially with Poveda since hes on the 40 and would seem to be a viable candidate if needed in the majors on short notice.
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
top 11
Harden
Feldman
Lewis
Hunter
McCarthy
Feliz
Holland
Harrison
Mendoza
Moscosco
Hurley
Sure, Hurley will be bumped to rehab. A few of those guys need to the bullpen before Kiker can get bumped up.

Mendozas out of options and can become a FA if outrighted
I don’t think Feliz sees a AAA rotation until May or June if hes gonna be stretched out midseason. Hurley wont see OKC till mid May most likely

I'd put Mathis and Nippert higher than Mendoza as rotation candidates

Ugh no
Both guys have shown they are best out of the pen and only used as spot starters

how so?
both are better than Mendoza, and are rotation candidates above him.

based on 2 starts from last year?
1 on June 9 and 1 on July 28. Talk about a SSS. He held his own against ML hitters last year. That’s alot more than can be said about Mendoza, so the point still stands.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Fangraphs seems to think..
…that his minor league track record is an indication he could be an interesting sinkerball option at the MLB level. He’s mentioned in a series about sinkerballers:
So I want to repeat what I have been saying throughout this series: the wonderful thing about sinkerballer pitchers is that they just don’t change very much. Yes, they have to work on their out pitch to left-handed batters. And everything needs to be harnessed and tweaked. But what you see is what you get, and with every promotion, they simply strike a balance between the difficulty of facing harder hitters with the ease of better fielders. No one better personifies this notion than Doug Mathis:
Year Level H/9 ERA K/9 BB/9 HR/9
2006 HighA 9.6 4.18 6.5 2.8 0.8
2007 DoubA 9.6 3.76 6.3 2.7 0.5
2008 TripA 8.6 3.35 6.0 2.3 1.2
2009 MLB 8.2 3.16 5.3 2.1 0.8
If Brad Pitt is playing Beane who do you want playing you?
JD: Eddie Guardado.
Nice to know
Honestly, I got bored and skipped the rest of that article.

I still think that Kiker starts in AAA and that Gutierrez is in the Frisco rotation. with Beavan, Perez, Kirkman and maybe Scheppers if he looks good this spring.
by Brett Perryman on Feb 1, 2010 12:37 PM CST up reply actions
ugh. I forgot about Gutierrez. Maybe because I hope he has a hot first half then gets traded.
Pro baseball has always been a dream, so this is pretty freakin’ cool out here. -- Tim Steggall, undrafted Rangers minor leaguer.
I don't mind trading him, but we just got him for peanuts
do you think his trade value would skyrocket that much in half of a season? I understand he would be part of a bigger deal, and I’m definitely not against trading him for value. I just wonder if we would get value for him.

go down in ST every year, like clockwork.

now I’m just voting for the guy with the coolest name.
