Saw this referenced on the Sickels thread re: Sheehan leaving and Maury Brown commenting that BP would have an announcement this morning. I got the announcement in my BP morning newsletter, so I thought it was worthy of a fanpost.
They've added Russell Carleton (aka PizzaCutter) and Colin Wyers as exclusive contributors to content and statistical development. I don't know anything about either of those guys, so I can't comment good or bad.
Sounds like they're going add topic-specific blogs for injury talk, transaction news, etc., rather than running everything through Unfiltered. I like that idea from an ease of reading standpoint, that way a really interesting blog post on one topic doesn't get lost in a slew of quick hits on another.
Kahrl and Perrotto are taking on bigger management roles.
Tommy Bennett from Beyond The Box Score is also becoming an exclusive BP
contributor. I don't ever read BTBS but I know a bunch of LSB'ers do. The most significant news, however, is this:
In addition to Tommy, Jeff Euston is coming aboard. If that name doesn't ring a bell, I could instead refer to Cot's Contracts. Yup, that's Jeff, and Cot's Contracts is coming over to the Baseball Prospectus family. The product as you all know and love will now be hosted at baseballprospectus.com with a variety of visual improvements, and will remain a free product. We will also be developing a premium version for our subscribers with a variety of in-depth searching and sorting tools to better mine this fantastic data. Jeff will be staying at BP as the manager of the product, while also writing about contracts and other economic aspects of the game
Here's the link: Goldstein's announcement.
I thought this might be worthy of fanpost discussion, since it seems to be a fairly significant revamping of BP.
