Thank mother of all that is prospect picking, I can now vote for someone else.
Your 2009 Snow Monkey Ambassador
EE
then possibly Kirkman or Boscan
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
EE......again
"More than likely JW never played sports above the youth level. It amazes me that he seems to have no concept on the common reactions of an adult athlete or their normal interactions between each other." - laxonto
Kirkman
"I was going to say, 'You’re gay for Elvis.' But then I realized that I, too, am gay for Elvis." ~Adam J. Morris.
There's not a lot that seperates
guys at this point, at least that’s public knowledge those outside the organization or professional scouts who see them play know.
That said, I voted for Edwin Escobar. He had a very nice debut in the AZ league this summer. Good stuff, good pitch-ability, and good projection. At this point that puts him up there with all of them and well age versus league he’s quality to me.
After that I really like Kennil Gomez. I know I’m in the minority but he showed up as the season wore on and now that he’ll be out of Bakerhell I expect big things from Kennil in Frisco.
Kirkman’s jump in velocity after his surgery is very impressive. I expect the control to improve now that he’s two years after the knife. His upside with that velocity his sky high.
I still have serious questions about Mendonca’s swing but it is nice to know that he realizes there’s a problem and is working on correcting it.
I’ve had a soft spot for Braden Tullis ever since I learned how he worked and progressed at a tiny college. He had a great pro debut and his numbers should be lights out in a full season league. I expect him in Bakersfield before the summer is over.
After that, well ask me again.
BA thinks Escobar will end up in the pen because of his build
and Newberg also doesn’t like his build.

yeah. I don't know what to make of all that, but I am a little bit more cautious about EE based upon that.
I’ve don’t think I’ve ever seen a study that looks at a pitcher’s body proportions and determines that is a primary factor for whether a pitcher made it and whether a pitcher made it as a RP or SP.
It might be one thing going against him, but it’s hard to argue with 90+ at age 17. What more body development does he need if he’s already able to sustain upper 80s and low 90s?
Anyway, I would bet there are just so many more important factors that body shape would be a secondary or tertiary effect. If the linked his body style to an inability to throw certain pitches with effectiveness, I’d be willing to discount more heavily.
I went with Snyder, though, just because Snyder is described as having at least one ML skill: getting LH hitters out. I still believe EE has the higher ceiling, but he’s so far away.
EE is next on my list though.
Pro baseball has always been a dream, so this is pretty freakin’ cool out here. -- Tim Steggall, undrafted Rangers minor leaguer.
honestly, I would have voted Snyder
a few spots ago If I knew he was going to be on the Rangers and not sent back to the Giants.

l forgot all about Snyder
As for EE, people have waffled on his build but I’m not ready to poo poo a young kid till he actually fails. He hasn’t done it yet. Obviously the test will be A+/AA but at this point his name is as good as anyone elses.
i agree
there is sometimes too much emphasis on a prototypical looking player. IF EE ends up having the career of Guardado, I think that would be a great find. I, personally, think his ceiling is a little higher than that, but it’s early.

Richard Alvarez
Dont know why but theres something about the kid that makes me want to formally declare myself driver of his bandwagon. I know it may be empty for a year or two but I fully expect in a couple years people to start hopping on in droves after he makes a Perez-esque ascent to prospect stardom
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

he may deserve the #22 ranking

If people really think Blake Beavan is our #13 prospect, Fredo Boscan should probably be on by now
Despite the nosedive his K rate took.

People voting for Beavan
Are similar to people who voted for Bumgarner on the minorleagueball prospect rankings. They see success at a high level and choose to hope against hope that the pitcher somehow gets strikeout stuff again.
Well, at least Bumgarner has done it before but yeah
