Esteban German out for ALCS
Per T.R. Sullivan, the Rangers have decided to replace Esteban German with a pitcher for the ALCS. No word yet on who the pitcher will be.
Given that Jorge Cantu didn't start against lefty David Price in game 5, I thought Cantu would be dropped from the roster instead of German...after all, if you aren't going to use Cantu in that situation, there's not much point having him on the roster. However, Ron Washington says Cantu will be on the roster and will start at least one of the games against the Yankees' lefty starters.

Sounds good to me.
I know game 3 was very scary from a pitching standpoint.
"I wanted to go out there and punch Julio" - Ron Washington
I think this is the right move
especially since Borbon is riding the bench most of the time and can pinch run if need be.
Ultimately having another pitcher is good, but at the same time scares me as Wash may feel like he has the freedom to go freaking crazy with his bullpen management again. I hope he learned his lesson in game 3 but who knows.
on a related note though, is FX2 going to be available and ready for the ALCS?

I've got this unshakable feeling
That Wash wants to give the oft-maligned Cantu the chance to be the pinch-hit hero if the situation arises.

German
The ALDS showed there wasn’t much point having him on the roster.
If we get to the WS..i'm betting he's back on.

I don't feel so bad if this is true
Some of my most memorable Ranger images were created last night and Esteban’s enthusiasm and.. just being the first person to congratulate people coming into the dugout and rushing the mound.. I’ll remember he was there yknow, that he was a part of that team and that he played a crucial part on and off the field

Extra pitcher is a good idea
But doesn’t German have more value than Cantu? Given that he can play multiple positions and be used as a pinch runner
Then again, Blanco is there and can do just the same… so whatever.
I’m hoping the pitcher is rapada, they need a loogy so oliver isnt overused.

Does Cantu have same dirt on Washington?
I also like the extra pitcher idea but why not German instead?

who's your backup 1B?
(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."
For the record I do prefer this move
while Cantu should not see any playing time I’d rather have a true backup 1B just in case than German. We already have a utility guy and a pitch runner so German added nothing, at least Cantu adds depth in case of injury to Mitch.
Wow
I just looked up Cantu’s splits Vs.RH .266/.311/.405 vs.LH .234/.286/.362
Mitch only has 20 AB vs.LH at ML level so no point in that but he must be better than Cantu who is actualy worse against LH.
While I stick by what i said it is pure idiocy to start cantu. I really hate the gut.

Removing Cantu or German is the minor issue.
That they are adding a pitcher is what seems significant in this announcement. Here’s to it being Kirkman.

I wonder
If they set up a masturbation session for each guy
And all the others had to look away while he was jacking it
They had quite a bit more space than you probably think.
They even had a smoking area set up about 500 yards from the main living area.

who do you have backing up at 1B? Davis?
Also we need to dump Nippert from the roster, then we can add both Kirkman and Rapada.

The Rangers offense is really close to the Yankees, btw.
I've been wondering
how much the Rangers’ overall numbers are negatively skewed by Hamilton, Cruz and Kinsler missing significant chunks of time. My general laziness has just led me to conclude that it’s a lot.
A lot.
But the Yankees offense is above average pretty much the whole way. For the Rangers, Hamilton and Cruz doing what they usually do is hugely important.
For Kinsler,
I think we are seeing a rested Ian since he missed so much time late. .444 in the ALDS is pretty fucking salty. Hamilton is just hurting and it’s expected. Broken ribs are a bitch.

There's also the question of how much they were picked up by Josh hitting over .400 for half the season.
I can’t be the only one who was just a little surprised by the Rangers leading the majors in hitting.
I miss unstoppable Josh. Hope he’s back to work by Friday.

ODay, Oliver and Feliz will be fine, does anyone think the other relief pitches has what it takes to get the game to those guys? Or wouldn’t Feldman or Harden could have been better choices given their maturity?

Harden is gone
I could maybe stomach having Feldman on the roster, but I think I would prefer Kirkman and Rapada.

The actual end of the game felt almost anti-climactic after the Kinsler bomb. Even at the BWW I went to, the HR celebration was a lot more intense.

German sprang from the dugout
On all the homers and most any run scored, he was first and farthest out. I’m thinking of all three Kinsler dingers especially.
