No Alfaro
shocks me.
The professor would have a field day if he read Sickels’ work.

Well, I have yet to see a list
I totally and completely agree with. I don’t agree with leaving Alfaro off, and the entire premise of leaving guys with no performance data off is suspect with me. On the other hand, he’s consistent with that view and every list has its particular biases and tendencies.

every list by every other writer, I mean

i can understand leaving off alfaro
i cannot understand cutting him but keeping DiFazio
mind blowing.
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

sickles reason for keeping difazio
Well Difaz was in the book last years as a sleeper, and i feel some responbility to follow guys like that.

DiFazio puts up a good slash line.
Hence, he’s on Sickels’ list.
It shouldn't
Sickels hates a) guys with no track record, b) guys with poor stats, c) guys in the really low minors, and he’s had a short track record with really poor results at the absolute lowest level.

An unfortunate byproduct of that
is a consistent tendency to underrate internationals. The signees are typically playing in the DSL or maybe the AZL at an age when those subject to the draft are still in high school.
I think with Alfaro he’d actually please both camps he referenced in his reply to me. The scout types love Alfaro’s tools/potential while the stat geeks are well aware of the dangers of using numbers from the DSL to decide anything. And while I think DiFazio had an outside chance of being something, that chance may have washed down the drain with a mostly lost season at his age in 2010. No team would choose DiFazio over Alfaro if the cost was equal, or even if Alfaro cost a lot more.

He just posted that he's putting Alfaro in there
and leaving Moscoso off.
I’m wondering about Stoneburner. Did his stock rise within the organization this year or something? I never considered him more than a soldier.
