Rangers claim Ryan Tucker on waivers, DFA Rich Harden

Stay connected for news and updates

The Rangers have claimed righthander Ryan Tucker off of waivers from the Florida Marlins, and have designated Rich Harden for assignment.

Interesting pickup here...the Rangers supposedly wanted Tucker in the '08-'09 offseason when they were talking to Florida about dealing Max Ramirez.  Tucker was a supplemental first rounder in the 2005 draft, and missed much of 2009 and 2010 because of injuries.  I'm guessing Florida thought they could slide Tucker through waivers, and Texas seems him as a possible reclamation project.

I also wouldn't be shocked if the Rangers tried running him through waivers later this offseason -- they've done that with a few guys the past couple of seasons, claiming them off of waivers and then running them back through again not long thereafter and seeing if they'll clear.
