NFL 11/14
Well I havent been able to watch the Cowboys game much, but I was afraid this was going to happen.
From what I see the main difference is the refs dont have Wade to hate, so they're not throwing the crucial flags they normally would on the Cowboys. For example, that last Felix screen TD definitely woulda have been called back for some fake penalty normally.
Also, who's the owner in Houston? They really need to fire that guy. The Texans will never win as long as he's the owner.
You cant blame Frank Bush though. It's all about talent and the Houston owner has obviously screwed that up, as owners do. So you pretty much have to keep Bush around.
Looks like my boy Tebow has a couple more TD's in Denver..
Oh and damnit, I forget the yahoo pick em again. This would be my second dropped week so I guess I'm finished there.

Ever been in a boardroom, or a gang fight? Ever save a life? Ever won a court case against the odds? Ever held a dying buddy in your arms?.- jackanape on "perspective," 11/8/2010.
Tebow has a 2 rushes for 2 yards and 1 pass for 3 yards
But he’s vultured 2 TD’s and he’s that much closer to sainthood
Pretty sure they only put him in on short and goal
Dumbshit. Do you want him to gain 40 yards on first and goal from the 1?
I consider McDaniels a grade A beast and all, but that seems a little odd to me. If you think Tebow is best on 1st a goal, he’d pretty much be best in the whole game. Which Denver might as well go ahead and start Tebow already.
That reminds me, one thing that has died out since I was a kid is dual QB systems. Used to see that a lot in college and even some in the NFL. Dont anymore.
stick around.

I've heard the whole schpeel about the 1-12 record against the spread with new coaches in mid season.
So what?
Teams show up for new coaches all the time, in every sport. Just because the record in the previous 13 games was 1-12 doesn’t mean it’s a flawed concept. What was the record before those 13 games? Show me that.
I could most definitely see Dallas suffering from a hangover from this game and losing to Detroit.

Then as long as you keep Frank Bush at DC, I dont care if you hire Vince Fucking Lombardi for head coach. If it’s all the same to you, since coordinators are interchangable. Maurice Carthon would be an excellent choice at OC as well. Just sayin. If it’s all the same to you I mean, if you dont mind…
BTW, I was reading my preseason football mag and they talked about Mario Williams. They said he doesnt draw a double team which doesnt make his teammates better. Just think it’s pretty hilarious, given how much the media tried to beat it into us what a great pick that was over Bush.
Mario Williams is fine, you cant be a good defense with Frank Bush. You cant. I told you all before the season the Texans defense would suck.
I agree the Texans need to re rack their coaching staff and see what they can do

I imagine the CBs will improve with experience
and I’d leave the LBs alone.
But they need serious improvement along the defensive line and at the safety spots. An experience veteran CB to be the 3rd or 4th CB and teach the kids they start would be a nice luxury as well.

Best thing I saw today from the Cowboys...
I only remember one penalty on offense in that game (a false start). I think the rest were on defense (not good but it’s understandable considering our backup CB’s played most of the game).
Anyone know what happened with Sensi/Newman? (Newman shouldn’t really be pointing any figures at anyone else)

wonder where those ‘fans’ are who said this team doesn’t have talent. i think they said ‘shit’ almost everywhere outside of a few players.
i said a couple of times, this could be like Payton getting away from Parcells. Payton wasn’t that great of a play caller here either, but, like Payton, Garrett might just be a better HC + OC. We’ll see…i hope it works out that way. It can’t be easy going on the road to NY and playing the best team in the NFC and pretty much kicking their ass with a 39 yr old backup QB. As much as i liked Wade, this just feels different…
oh yeah, that oline, sure seems to be pretty good once everyone is healthy and playing together.
also, that was a BS penalty on McCann that lead to Giants last TD.
"what I have learned in 11 years in the sports business is that the dumbest guys in the room are always the media guys." - mark cuban
This game is much more likely to have been a flash in the pan than it is a major turning point for the franchise.
Sure, the Cowboys have more talent than it appeared in big losses to Green Bay and Jacksonville, but those games still happened and this team is still 2-7.
People saying that this team had “no talent” are dumb, but so are those who refuse to recognize the massive weaknesses that led to five straight losses.
The Cowboys played well today. They still won’t make the playoffs because the hole they’ve dug is just too big and as a team, they’re still not that good.

I definitely said something like that.
And I was wrong. Bryant has been terrific this year. Given the track records of rookie WRs in the NFL, I was not expecting that at all.
by Adam J. Morris on Nov 15, 2010 11:02 AM CST up reply actions
Well
it’s not completely unprecedented that rookie WR’s can have an impact but I guess I agree that I shouldn’t have counted on it.
But it seems like there’s one rookie WR every year for the last few years that have had huge impacts and Bryant, given his size and speed, seemed like the perfect candidate.
I thought he would be good for a rookie.
I did not think he would be this good.
And the crazy thing is that his number should be better but he’s had plays called back that, with a little more experience, he’ll likely learn how to turn into allowable plays. Austin impresses you from his acceleration and strength, but Bryant makes you say wow from the catches he can make. It’s not the system (like for DeSean Jackson) helping him, he’s changing the system. Crazy.

Anyways
On the game, a few things…
First, didn’t realize we have Detroit next week. Nice break for Garrett lol. Our ONE easy game of the year next week, almost guaranteed our third win.
2, Garrett is still dumb. There was some situation, I dont remember exactly, but it was 3rd Q-ish, we led maybe 26-13, basically we really needed to start running the clock. On a 2nd and 3, Garrett throws two passes. Now, I’m constantly bitching about the dumb fans bitching about Garrett not running enough, but the whole key is WHEN IT MAKES SENSE. I just cant believe how situation-ally dumb Garrett tends to be. On 2nd and 3, milking a lead, you fucking run it!
3, the game basically just lacked the “freakish” things going wrong, as Kitna said. This was basically what this year should have looked like, the 11-5 team from last year.

But, Sneider makes all the calls, really.
People want to proclaim Jerry the worst GM in NFL history…but fail to take a good, looooong look at the fucking idiots who run the Redskins.
You think they would learn after Albert Haynesworth.

I’m so sad watching him run for the Eagles.

Wasnt that long ago seemed like everybody on LSB was calling Reid an idiot for starting Vick instead of Kolb.
My, how you guys change with the times…
so, for those who keep saying
jerry is stubborn when it comes to Beuhler…are y’all saying the same thing about 70% of the GMs out there as well?
looks like kickers suck everywhere this year.

I can hang 60 or so points on someone on All-Pro
with seven-minute quarters and “reasonable” handling of the clock (i.e. deliberately letting time run off the clock before snapping the ball).

I usually max at ~35 on all-pro
Don’t really ever lose though

Though then again, on last-gen Madden...
You could basically send a fast receiver on a fly route all day and you’d get a deep touchdown every time.

i remember
probably madden 02 on play station.
created a super quarterback with huge salary. named him ash (after army of darkness).
i’d let my roommate play the game while i’m in class. it’s like season 3 or 4 of his career. i turn the game on after class one day and see that he had a CAREER ENDING injury. never heard of such a thing on madden.
i asked him whey the fudge he saved the game. i was like, “i wasn’t thinking”
career ending!
Tony Romo had a career ending injury in 2013 on my Madden 11...

Back on Madden 09
my cornerback Superstar surprisingly got drafted to the Cowboys, so I got to play around with the Cowboys offense (this was a roster updated after they traded for Roy W)
Romo practically threw for 5000+ yards and 50+ TDs for six straight years – TO was the main guy for three of them, then Roy took over.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
"I've had people walk out on me before, but not when I was being so charming."
See, I don't really play games that often on Madden
I just build god-tier teams through drafts. I typically do play super bowls though. This current Vikings franchise I have is on year 12 and I’ve won the last 6 super bowls. it’s pretty awesome

Holy fuck.
4 passing TDs and 333 yards passing plus 2 rushing TDs and 80 yards rushing.

VICK CANT POSSIBLY EVER PLAY QB AGAIN.
I’m serious, Cowherd was spouting that shit for ages about Vick. It was one of his main tangents, it was in a lot of his commercials for his show.
-It’s impossible to take two years off from football and be any good for a long time when you get back. You’ll be too out of shape, game is far too fast, etc etc
-Vick was never very good in the past when he was healthy and in the league anyway, lists a bunch of biased stats to back that up. So now, how can he be any good with a bunch of new factors working against him?
Lol, talk about spectacularly wrong.
Anyway, the thing about Philly is they’re well coached. Reid is a good OC himself and Mornhinweg who actually handles the playcalling too. That’s the difference between Philly Vick and Atl Vick. And the DC apparently isn’t bad either.
We’ll see though, black QB’s havent won a lot of super bowls. The super bowl formula seems to be white pocket QB in a sophisticated passing offense, imo, in recent years. We’ll see if Vick can buck that. If he stays healthy with all that running.
The McNabb contract
Apparently, only $3.5 million is guaranteed, not $40 million.
by Adam J. Morris on Nov 16, 2010 12:18 PM CST reply actions
So
what is the point? Nonguaranteed money is fairly pointless, and why lock up for only 3.5?
"I wanted to go out there and punch Julio" - Ron Washington
Well
The offer supposedly has been on the table for a while. My guess is that McNabb figured he wasn’t going to get anything more than that from the Redskins, so he might as well guarantee himself $3.5 million before the lockout. If they decide to keep him, he’ll get a $10 million roster bonus in 2011, but if they cut bait with him, they don’t have to pay him.

I'm not sure there will be another obvious name they could trade for
this offseason though. And I doubt the go the rookie route…though I could be wrong.

Ehh
I’m sure Grossman is way better than McNabb.
Grossman is another QB everybody hates for no reason, sort of the anti-Aron Rodgers/Matt Schaub, and the media is superbly biased against, I’m sure he’s good.
