Well, it turns out my theory was correct because after 493 votes, Elvis Andrus has won the title of Lone Star Ball's favorite player for 2011.
If Elvis looks slightly surprised or relieved it's probably because it was an extremely narrow victory, as he wins by only 5 votes and 1% (121 total votes) over Josh Hamilton (116 total).
Elvis and Josh dominated the poll, garnering 24% and 23% of the votes, while the only other player to garner more than 6% was Nelson Cruz with 15%. I was kind of surprised Ian Kinsler and Michael Young didn't get more support, although they still filled out the top five with 6% and 5% respectively.
We might have to run this again midseason or sometime in October, as I'm interested to see how much of the vote Adrian Beltre would garner and how 2011 performances will change things. For now though, I give you the man who will lead LSB into the deserts of 2011: Elvis "Moses" Andrus.
You better hit for some semblance of power this year, Moses.
