OT: What are The Browns doing?
Seriously?!?!?
I should start off by saying that I don't usually get that worked up about stuff like this, especially considering that baseball is less than a month away. But this got me stirred up a bit and I wondered if anyone else felt the same. What on earth are The Cleveland Browns doing? Signing Jake Delhomme? Seriously? Getting rid of BOTH Derek Anderson AND Brady Quinn? Do Holmgren and Mangini REALLY think that The Browns are within a year or two of the Super Bowl? I mean...if your team was on the cusp and the only thing holding them back from the championship conversation was the QB position, then I guess I get it, theoretically. But am I not correct in saying that Quinn's probably gonna have a future in the league? I'm not a Browns fan, but there were times last year that he looked like he might be getting it, at least to me. This move just makes absolutely no sense to me...and since no one I work with gives half-a-shit about football outside of o.u., I had to come here to make sure that I'm not the only one who thinks this is a crazy move.

They're gonna try to move up and take Bradford.
Or Clausen(their fans will have a heart attack). Delhomme is a stop-gap.

Does everyone write off a player because they're from Notre Dame?
I don’t understand why some people do this. You hate X school, so player frome X school is going to suck. Makes a lotta sense.

Nope, not what I was implying.
I don’t care about Cleveland or Notre Dame. It’s just human nature, both ways- After the Mavs passed on Karl Malone, we just had to get Randy White.
Hence, I imagine Clausen reminds of Quinn. Admittedly, I don’t think Clausen will be much.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and I think Clausen sucks
Has nothing to do with pedigree.
"You promised me, Eckstein, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life, there have only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" David Eckstein replied, "Because my little legs had gotten tired, and you were carrying me." And I looked down and saw that I was still carrying David Eckstein.
Then he grounded out weakly to second.
they also traded arguably their best defensive player (Kameron Wimbley) to Oakland for a 3rd round pick.

jackson
all he does is get tackles. no INT. no sacks. nothing “special” other than getting tackles.
didnt they trade one of their DL to det as well?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Corey Smith, I think
Maybe Corey Williams? Played well in a 43 in Green Bay but didn’t seem to fit as a 34 DE with the Broons.

I can't understand why this would upset you.
Anderson and Quinn suck. Like really, really suck. I don’t really even understand why Denver did it. I’m pretty sure Brandstater is better than Quinn.
Do you really think any team in the league would sign Jake Delhomme because they thought they were close to a Super Bowl?
He’s a placeholder. They’ll surely draft another guy and stash him.
This really isn’t a big deal except for the fact that Quinn was a first-rounder. But first round picks bust all the time. Nothing to get too excited about.
u give holmgina too much credit

I doubt it
maybe a competent backup.

A Chris Simms-type career seems about right.

i, unlike you
don’t get flustered when people make statements like that.
By the way, you can crap on a lot of UT players and I’d be okay with it.

yeah
I don’t get “flustered” (if you are going to copy me, use it correctly) because I don’t have attachments to players beyond the professional teams they play for. I only support professional laundry.

So is Delhomme actually starting?
Or is it a spring battle between him and Wallace?
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
I'm pretty sure
Holmgren has made clear that he’s not interested in any QB battles.

Good idea,
Coming here where a bunch of people are passionate about Browns football and can discuss this with you.
You hear that creepy clicking sound? You better run.
I'm not sure
I share your belief that Quinn will ever get it.

the picks CLE traded for quinn
were used to pick felix jones and kevin kolb.
i bet those 2 would help a lot with “rebuilding”, wouldnt they?

As an actual Browns fan
Im pissed. It’s Jake Delhomme who cant throw the ball 20 yards and trading Wimbley was just as dumb. At first I was a little pumped about Holmgren taking over but the guy needs to just leave now. If they use their 1st round pick to take a QB to just “stash” for the 2 seasons of suckage they’ll have playing there, then I’ll just quit being a fan.
Wait just a second
This would make you quit being a Browns fan?

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.

Personally, I'd rather have Quinn
than Claussen. I think if Quinn gets the chance to actually play without the threat of getting benched all the time AND the chance to actually throw the ball downfield (as opposed to sending every receiver on little 5 yard patterns) that he might prove to be alright. I find it odd that Cle thinks they’ve actually seen everything that Quinn can bring to the table….kind of like buying a brand new car, driving it around for a couple of days without getting on the highway and then taking it back to the dealership to buy a different brand new car because the first one didn’t drive fast enough. With first round picks, I think you (as an organization) owe it to yourself to fully evaluate the player because first rounders are so valuable…especially if your team sucks.
"Does this effectively hide my thunder?"
Brady Quinn is terrible
Have you ever seen the guy play? It’s a joke.
I remember in a televised game last year he threw consecutive Hail Marys about 10 yards out of bounds. Guy literally couldn’t hit the middle of the field.
