Mendoza for Harris would never happen

Isn’t he basically their starting 3Bman for the time being?

My prediction: Brandon McCarthy for Julio Lugo.

I don't think so. I think Punto is the starting 3B, until Valencia forces his way to the majors.

No on Punto.

In the abstract, maybe they’d do Punto for one of our pitchers. Prolly not Mendoza, but perhaps BMac or Tits.

But Punto’s making 4 mil this season, and he’s got a 5mm team option w/ a 500k buyout for next year, and the Rangers aren’t gonna take on that salary I wouldn’t think.

Plus I think the Twins value Punto.

He’s really horrible with the bat, but he’s also crazy good with the glove, and the Twins place a huge premium on defense.

He can play 2b, SS and 3b and be a genuine plus at any of ’em. Fangraphs value stats have him at 13.7, 17.6, 10.2 and 5.9 with the glove the last four years, respectively.

With the injury risks associated with Hardy and O-Dog, I have to think they’d be looking to keep Punto unless someone wants to bowl them over and/or take his whole contract.
