Maury Brown on the Sale Situation
Maury Brown has a piece up on the latest issues with the Rangers' sale, which includes this snippet:
Chuck Greenberg, the lead for the group bidding to purchase the clubs, continues to believe that the deal will occur at or around the April 1 closing date. The group is in the awkward position of being at the mercy of the process between HSG and the creditors.

(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."
When you use the same photo several hundred times in one offseason, you better come up with some snappy captions
Morality you can fake. Fun you either have or you don't.
re: stars
In related news, Kaplan reports that "a prospectus is expected to be sent out next week to potential buyers of the [NHL Dallas] Stars from Galatioto Sports Partners, the investment bank HSG retained to sell the club."
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.
I've got twenty bucks...
Purgatory's kind of like the in-betweeny one. You weren't really shit, but you weren't all that great either. Like Tottenham.
Here are some interesting quotes about Maury Brown
Interesting stuff especially given Calcaterra’s takes on the sale.
"You promised me, Eckstein, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life, there have only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" David Eckstein replied, "Because my little legs had gotten tired, and you were carrying me." And I looked down and saw that I was still carrying David Eckstein.
Then he grounded out weakly to second.
David Pinto's comment:
I don’t know if there is a deadline for this deal to get done, but there is no reason for the creditors to settle before that deadline comes. They’ve already moved the Greenberg group closer to the $300 million figure. The longer they wait, the closer they’re likely to get to that number.
This is kinda what I’m starting to suspect. The April 1st deadline seems artificial. The real deadline is the first time an opportunity to improve the club thru a signing or trade is missed due to the club’s ongoing lack of sale. That’s when the real pain is inflicted – when the value of the item you want to buy is being diminished by the delay. The creditors might see that as leverage that hasn’t even blossomed yet.
Well
that article doesn’t exactly counter the Calcaterra swipes.
""It was a ball, dude," Davis said. "I don’t swing at balls anymore." -CD
Maybe maybe not
Calcaterra takes some jabs at Greenberg when he doesn’t have anything to do with this issue. What that article makes clear is it isn’t Greenberg who’s having problems in the matter but HSG since they’re the ones who are responsible for the debt. It’s not Greenberg’s decision on where the sales proceeds ultimately wind up but Hicks. Hicks is the one that hasn’t successfully negotiated with the creditors. He, naturally, is trying to minimize payments to creditors so HSG can pocket more of the money.
The only thing this sort of confirms is perhaps Greenberg was a little overly optomistic in getting the sale done by April 1 since he really doesn’t have any control over that. If Calcaterra was looking for honesty from Greenberg Greenberg would have said “Hicks is screwing this deal up.”

True
Chuck may be guilty of over-enthusiasm, or of overly simplifying the process, but in truth, he has very little to do with it right now.

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.

it's an octagon isn't it?

that picture of Hicks would make a great cat litter box liner...the only problem with that is....
…the cat may look down and run off scared and piss on your furniture.
If the Rangers don't make the play-offs this year I'm gonna go all Epic Bearded Man on your ass.
