I don't either
but I think that I do feel better about the big picture. We’ve seen negatives for the immediate, injuries to Hunter, Kinsler, Greene not showing up. But the positives could be pretty huge if some of them pan out, Hamilton looking good, Scheppers looking great, Ogando looking like something real, Moreland impressing people, etc.

I used to watch that guy pitch for the Laredo Broncos in the United League.
I go to quite a few of the Amarillo Dillas games every summer. It’s cool to see one of those guys at the ML level.

One of my greatest sports moments was at a Dillas game.
They had this pitcher who had a big curve ball and liked it a lot. He would hang it occasionally and being minor league guys, they wouldn’t always hit it.
Well, one of the Dillas better hitters came up and the curveball cat gets him into an 0-2 count. I scream at the top of my lungs a couple times, “If you throw that curve ball, he’s gonna take it yard. Don’t throw it.”
Sure enough he throws the curve and our guy jacks it out for a 2 run dong. The pitcher was furious and started towards me. His 1st baseman had to calm him down. Our entire section was roaring. Everyone was patting my back and was saying how cool it was I called it.

I think he would have a lot to share, to me thats why they brought him back last year was to tutor the young guys and help show them some of the ropes and what its like being a reliever in situations.

I have Ky winning one and Duke winning the other.

one with Duke on Orioles hangout and 1 with Kentucky here.
I had no faith in Kansas. They seemed to play down to teams as often as not. They where destined to lay and egg at some point this tourney.
What hurt me the most is GT, because I had them taking out Ohio St. By killing both sides of that bracket it hurts me in the overall points.

Looks like the Rangers need to clear 3 spots off their 40 to make room for Beltre, Ogando and Brown. Poveda will go on the 60 day DL. Madrigal hasn’t pitched in ST so he may also go on the 60 day DL. One more spot is needed.
Will they keep Snyder? Has Mendoza run out of lives? Why keep Iribareren? Any other candidates to drop from the 40?

Brown is much better at 3B than Davis, for whatever that’s worth. He has to convince them that he is worthy of a 1B platoon to make the opening roster, I’d think.

Reporting live from the club seating at Peoria
After the sunburn I acquired yesterday, I am thankful for the shade of the club seats.
I like the pregame music at Surprise better, but otherwise I like the layout of this stadium.
I think I’m going to do a fanpost when I get back on some various observations and interactions I had while here. I’m no scout or expert on the talent side of things but I had fun observing the players’ personalities and interactions with each other and the fans. This morning I caught pitcher fielding practice led by Maddux with most of the big league staff (sans Harden, McCarthy, and Harrison). That was the trip highlight, or one of them.

I believe MLB considers you a rookie if you have less than 130 ab or 50 IP or if you spent more than 45 days on the ML roster the previous season regardless of how many ABs

but I have no good reason. I loved them when I was a kid – Dempsey and Robinson and Palmer and Eddie, etc.
I thought the Orioles were one of the gold standards as
an organization in the 70s. They piddled around for most of Cal’s first 10-12 years after they won the World Series and haven’t been the same since firing DJohnson.

First time I've seen Harden pitch this year...
I liked what I saw there. Not the greatest velocity, but some good movement.

Harden has some good velocity
but he’s no Feliz, Scheppers, etc. with the fastball. His success doesn’t come from throwing it in the upper 90s.

This is true, but...
I think he’s good defensively and won’t kill you offensively (compared to other back-ups). If Teagarden or Salty don’t hit much better than last season, I don’t think Richardson would do any worse than those guys.

Teagarden projects over 100 points higher, and he projects as barely good enough offensivey to be a backup.

Both Teagarden and Salty had an OPS about 50 points better than that last season
That is why I said, if one of those 2 guys are hitting like last season, I wouldn’t mind Richardson who at least has a .990 OPS against lefties for his minor league career including a 1.051 OPS against lefties last season in OKC. I’m sure CHONE projects Teagarden and Satly, two guys with much better minor league careers and some minor ML success at times to do better than Richardson, but CHONE is far from perfect.

Given his defense, his familiarity with the pitching staff, and that he can at least hit lefties, I think he can be. Especially if we’re talking about a back-up catcher who will get 200 PAs at most where you’d be comparing a .650 OPS to a potential >.600 OPS (if Richardson hits to his CHONE projection).
