It makes pitching coaches
sound almost as important as Offensive Coordinators.

Please do not lump Tracy Ringolsby in with the rest of us who wear cowboy hats regularly
We do not claim him.

heh
You guys will love this:
There was, after all, no marked change in the defense — they had a .984 fielding percentage both years.
That’s Ringolsby talking about the Brewers and their improvement under Maddux.
I don’t really disagree with the conclusion, but JD and friends have also brought in better pitchers for him to work with here. They had hired a manager who seems to really believe in defense and the front office doesn’t ignore that aspect of the game, obviously.
From bits and pieces I’ve read here and there over time, I really like how the Rangers are run. Like the decision to give Frank Frank some time off from the closers spot. It wasn’t just the manager…apparently there were lots of people involved in that. It’s the way it should be. So it’s pretty clear that a bunch of egomaniacs aren’t fighting amongst each other and trying to make decisions unilaterally. The right people are in place.
If only they could run a spring training and avoid these slow starts…
Never been a fan of Ringolsby
This column did nothing to change my opinion.
