Rockin_rangers goes to a minor league baseball game; hilarity ensues

Went to Oklahoma City this past weekend to see the Redhawks play, and I had one goal: Get Derek Holland's autograph.

Rest of the story after the jump.

Before this past Sunday, I had never been to a true minor league baseball game. Though we have indie ball here in Amarillo, I really wanted to see what the affiliated minor league experience would be like. So, with best friend in tow, we made a daytrip to Oklahoma City (four hour drive from Amarillo) to watch the Texas Rangers' AAA affiliate OKC Redhawks. For the record, the trip was awesome. The ballpark is quite astounding, and a wonderful place to catch a baseball game.
However, my motive changed slightly in the beginning of the season. Right around the time teams broke camp, I learned that my favorite pitcher, Derek Holland, would be optioned to Oklahoma City for at least the beginning of the year. My new goal: Get Derek Holland's autograph.
Mission? Accomplished.

p_00052.jpg We made it to the ballpark and are enjoying batting practice.

p_00055.jpg "Oh snap! There he is!"

p_00056.jpg "Derek! Hi, would you mind signing this for me?"

p_00067.jpg Where's George W.? I need to borrow that "Mission Accomplished" banner.

p_00057.jpg Clearly, I look like a 12 year-old when I'm excited.

Matt.jpg Matt got a little excited, too.

And that's it, man. Got the ball autographed, I went home happy. Though the Redhawks lost 9-5, we still had an awesome time and I can't wait to go back.
