This is the ultimatum. It basically is a directive to Hicks and any potential other bidders (Jim Crane) to stay out of the process. If not, the "dealt with appropriately by the Commissioner," clause appears to be a thinly-veiled warning directed at Hicks. The interpretation, it appears, is that MLB considers Hicks' statements on Tuesday an attempt to cloud the deal. If Hicks does it again: the Commissioner will act "appropriately." Read appropriately this way: "The Commissioner will take control of the franchise."
— Evan Grant, interpreting last night's statement from MLB. I've said for a while I didn't think MLB would let this deal fall apart, and the statement from MLB seems to suggest they're going to make sure a deal gets done.
