Ranger Fans Against the Wave
To the person holding the sign that said "Ranger Fans Against the Wave" in the corner box seats on the first base side at tonights game - I applaud you. People who start the wave should immediately be escorted from the stadium.
That is a genius sign and the Rangers should distribute them throughout the stadium. Have ushers and fans hold up the signs when people try to start the wave and hopefully the d-bags who start the wave will stop.

I understand the mindset of wanting to lead a cheer.
I just don’t understand why you’d wanna start a wave.
A ’Let’s-Go, Rain-gers’ chant has a shorter shelf life, yes… but it gets bonus points for actually being relevant to the game.
It is encouraging to hear stuff like the O’Day chant. And then Tuesday night I heard a ’Let’s Go Smoak’ chant coming from the first base side
I have been wanting to unveil my Julio chant for quite some time
I want to go to the ballpark
And do this cheer.
We're like soccer hooligans... except, like the Rangers, we can’t even get that right. We beat each other up instead of the other side. - AJM

Cross country bowling....full contact chess....Australian dick wrestling.
They have that on ESPN, you know.

These people that start the wave....
Are those fans that go to only a few games a year and probably can’t even name the entire starting lineup.
They think the wave is the “cool” thing to do.

I was at the game last night, with several other faithful LoneStarBall members
In the last inning…A group tried to start the wave…and the Kettle Popcorn vender came down to HELP. Another gentlemen two rows up from me and I started yelling…WATCH THE GAME!! WATCH THE GAME!!
They weren’t even watching the stinking game in the 9th inning with the other team rallying to try and win it.
Same thing as the group in center…they spent 2 innings watching their own wave run around the stadium…they had no idea a game was being played.
My friend, from St. Louis…said we were the most pathetic fanbase in baseball. No one watches the games…no one gets into the fact that their team is 1 out away from a win…or tie game.
I don't usually see the wave in the 9th
that is extremely bad form, and very embarrassing. we’re no St. Louis that’s for sure. I love going there to watch a game. A couple times I’ve been there I’ve sat by different old guys who have been going to Cards games since Musial – very cool chats with these guys. They are all pretty knowledgeable fans. Most of the people who go to Rangers games probably don’t know that we traded Teixeira, and are upset that Rusty Greer isn’t in our LF.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Yeah..nice fanbase up there.
One time last year the guy sitting behind me was very knowledgeable about the team and it actually made my experience that day better to had sat by him, even though I wasn’t there as apart of his group (who didn’t seem to know much). Usually, if I’m not around season ticket holders… it’s casual fans that don’t really know the team. I hold nothing against them, I just like sitting by people that I know are enjoying it and understanding everything as much as I am.
What have you done with the real Mike E?
Record word count for you dude. And no random capiTalizations….

Wtf I wasn't invited to this LSB get-together? heh
And your friend is (most likely) incorrect. He probably hasn’t even researched all the other fanbases at any length.
well of course he's not right...I defended us (especially Lonestarball nuts
It was interesting…it was an accidental LoneStarBall get together. There were 4 of us in a group from ACU (20 people) who participate in the community here. None of the big posters..just some of us who read everything and who comment on occasion.
I have a feeling the guy 2 rows up was a Lonestarball dude….he was jumping on the wave all game long!
of course not...
Many of the big baseball gun writers (i.e. Gammons) have noted how unusual that a large number of Rangers fans can tell you who the #20 prospect in the organization is… though admittedly most at the ballpark can not.

If you won’t kick me out for calling an opposing team’s player a fucking bum, I won’t fight The Wave.
Kids love the wave.
So shut the fuck up you fucking loser.
Fuck you.
I think they should ushers and fans hold you down and cut off your fingers so you can’t type stupid fuck shit like this.
Unless you got one of those voice-typing programs… in which case I’d come over and take it from you.
Cause you’re a fucking idiot and I’d enjoy stealing your stuff from you.

That's cause you hate kids, prolly cause they remind you of freedom and Christmas, and also your impotence and the fact your wife won't stop talking about me and now you're starting to get suspicious.

Bet the kids love that dumbass wiffleball park in CF too huh?
See any wiffleball parks in Boston, Chicago or St Louis?

I don't know about St. Louis, but the Cubs and the Red Sox don't need to attract families to sell tickets. We do.

Oops, hit post too soon...
The pic above is of the large kids entertainment section at the Phillies ballpark.
The Phillies do alright for themselves, yah?
Trying to appeal to families and to kids is a good idea, and major league teams realize this. Yes, teams other than the Rangers.
You don’t like it? Fine. Ignore it. Wasn’t meant for you (or for me).
As long as it doesn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the game, the mother fuck do I care if they put a whiffleball park in CF or whatever?
I think it’s kinda dumb, but if that thing had been there when I was a kid, me and my dumbass idiot friends who sometimes went with me woulda been out there whiffleballing it up.

I actually feel bad...
because my ballpark friends (i.e. people I sit with at the game) have convinced my kids that the wave is stupid. That’s good for when they become adults, but it does take away part of their youth.
It is stupid.
But also, you knew we hated the wave going into it, right?
The Wave does not belong in baseball games.

And nephew #1, love him as I do
Fucked that game up royally for me.
First chance to see Neftali in person, TV, or the series of tubes. What does the little guy do?
1. Little dragassing lollygagger makes us late. Sigh. Don’t get there till the 2nd inning.
2. Little ladykilla spends the ENTIRE EFFIN TIME making eye kisses at the “ladies” behind us, which would be fine, far be it from me to player-hate, but this induced all manner of tedious, boring questions from the “ladies” behind us.
3. Little dude knocks my beer over. The dumbass.
4.. Neftali is pulled after the 3rd inning. Pitch counts. Not sure exactly how this was nephew #1’s fault, but I’m assuming it is until proven otherwise.
Moral to the story: take your little kids to see Ryan Tatusko pitch. Go with your boys to see the Rockin Caracaan…

The Wave Must Be Stopped
I am in complete agreement that the wave needs to be banned from the ballpark. However, last year I went to Fenway Park to watch the Rangers take 2 of 3 from the Sox and much to my surprise the wave made an appearance at least twice in all three games. I think it may be acceptable if your stadium is full (so it atleast looks good going around) but it must be done when the game is in a lull and not at key moments in the game. The majority of Ranger fans can not be trusted with these rules, therefore it must be banned.
