Hopefully, this is Holland's last start in the OKC. Davis and Salty hitting 4-5 for the RedHawks. Is Teagarden backing up Salty? If so, why not send him to Frisco? I don't see the point of Teagarden backing up Salty in OKC.

Miggy V is starting to get hot so keep an eye on him.

I'm calling it:

Gomez is unspectacular. Holland is solid but unspectacular. C-Wun avenges his last start with a very good outing. Ross absolutely dominates.

Where did the C1 or "C-wun" thing come from?

Random funny statement from someone on LSB here.

by Aqua on Apr 30, 2010 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions

C-Wun = Captain Wonderful

It’s a moniker derived from Beavan’s alleged ego and infatuation with himself as a prep star. The two most famous incidents are when he described his slider as the “filthiest slider I’ve ever seen” and when, shortly after being drafted, announced to the world that the Rangers should just stick him on the ML staff immediately, because he could probably do about as good as the guys we had on staff at the time. IIRC, Brandon McCarthy publicly criticized that comment.

To his credit, though, Beavan has matured significantly since turning pro. He is in no way a headcase or a prima donna, and by all accounts is extremely dedicated, hard-working and coachable. The adjustments he’s made since losing his velocity evidence that. Uncoachable prima donnas don’t do what Beavan has done.

This seems like more of a panic move than anything we’ve seen so far at the ML level.

by LiamP on Apr 30, 2010 12:26 AM CDT up reply actions

If you watch them

or look at their numbers, they have no business in AA, particularly in short stretches. They at least need to be in AAA, just on their own merit.

by Brett Perryman on Apr 30, 2010 7:19 AM CDT up reply actions

Yeah. I think if they were not this dominant I would feel more like it was a panic move.

Both fellas had long looks in ST in addition to the numbers they’ve posted in AA. I think the FO has a clear sense of how their stuff compares to current ML bullpen folks. There’s always the gamble that they will be overwhelmed by the opportunity or just won’t have a high comfort level with a second pitch when they start facing ML hitters. I would bet against either of these two being overwhelmed, though, after reading through all the material from Cole/Parks and posted on LSB.

I could see O’Day going to the DL and Mathis being optioned.

They would still need to move someone off the 40-man roster. Maybe that would be Brandon Boggs.

by RangerMad on Apr 30, 2010 11:20 AM CDT up reply actions

It would be ahead of the expected schedule, but I could be persuaded its a reasonable move.

It could be Ogando is getting prepped for a move to AAA bullpen, and maybe someone from the AAA bullpen is going to majors. So, perhaps Strop/Scheppers would be a tandem moving up to the majors.

Lueke has to be on the short list for promotion to AA when a move goes down. I really don’t see any other prospects that have played their way to AA at this point.

Really excited about Paisano

I don’t legitimately expect him to post a 1.000+ OPS for the full season, but he’s got a decent split between his AVG and OBP, so at a sustainable level of hitting he could post a solid number of walks and make a semi-intriguing prospect, particularly for trade purposes.

Okay, What in the name of good god damn mother fuck are you talking about? You're getting an MJH level persecution complex here, Cakes.

According you the comprehensive log of Z-Cakes Teheran mentions, he’s been mentioned by you in all of 4 comments, in all of 3 separate threads.

The first, no one responded.

The second, I’m the only who responded and if you actually read the fucking response instead of MJH’ing and assuming I’m a fucking idiot who’s against you and then start to believe this so hard you start to honest to God believe that maybe I’m the one who killed fucking Barbaro, you’d see I wasn’t saying Teheran wasn’t a better prospect than Font, I was making an argument that a Fantasy prospect list is MUCH different than an actual prospect list because of the nature of Fantasy prospecting, where proximity counts a lot more than it does in a list like BA’s, for example, where they go strictly by who’s “the best” without regards for proximity or the specific situation his team is in at his position and whatnot.

The closest you can get to someone disagreeing with you is this comment by mother fucking me:

BTW, is Teheran really that much better stuff-wise than Font? They sound pretty comparable to me in that regard, with Font maybe even having the present edge, but Teheran having some projectability on his side cause he’s 9 months younger and less physically mature.

And that’s not so much a comment as a question, and the whole thing started from me trying to come up with the reasoning behind why Sickels might’ve rated Font one spot higher in a FANTASY prospect list, which I explained at the time, and am doing here again.

(Not that you’ll listen… in a few months we’ll get a fucking Fanpost about how we’re all stupid here on LSB and everyone was against you and you had to walk two miles in the snow uphill both ways just to even post a single thought about Teheran, cause we were all so against you. “Truly I am the greatest American,” you’ll say. And then you’ll hug The Newberg and lightning will shoot out of your penis and The Newberg will absorb said lightning and use it later on that day to put an end to Dreaminess, once and for all.)

The last was here (no link… you are here, silly goose), where you claim some sort of mass conspiracy where several people disagreed with you.

I fucking hate dumbass persecution complexes so fucking much, especially when it seems like the only person you could have possibly been assuming was persecuting you wholly unpersecuted ass was mother fucking me, and I didn’t fuck do that shit, so shut the mother fuck up, mother fucker.

Fuck.

And I love me some Z-Cakes, too.

But fucking persecution complexes give me such a bad case of the fucking rapes.

Unless there’s somewhere else you mentioned this and it’s not showing up cause of a mispelling and/or the search engine hates me and wants me to get the rapes, I hope you are the one gets the rapes, Cakes.

I hope you get ’em bad.

But, yah.

We were all against you.

It’s a conspiracy.

I’m typing this from a dungeons full of super-intelligent cat hookers and we’re going to get you, Cakes, if it’s the last thing we mother fucking do!!!!

Oh, no. I got it. I just think that... Nah.

I think this might qualify as a cry for help, though.

Personally I think I’m just gonna drink more, starting maybe earlier in the day

Hah geez

Okay you’re right. The way I remembered it I was hanging by my feet off the top of a tall building for five days.

"Hah geez" is right... Wow. I don't think I've ever seen myself get the morning rages that bad before.

Why was I so angry?

I don’t really recall.

That’s a bit scary.

But you should take the whole thing as a compliment.

Cause apparently I still loves me some you even when I’m the casting about blindly through the thick fog of a morning rage. Normally I just scream incoherently and then tug on my genitals so hard I end up passing out when I encounter someone in the hate fog.

Tron...

You are the Sam Kinison of LSB.

Go Strangers.

Oh, what the fuck? I googled that name and it's the name of a fat guy wearing a beret apparently.

I like his wikipedia intro, though.

A former revival-style preacher, he performed stand-up routines that were most often characterized by an intense style, similar to revival preachers, punctuated by his trademark scream.

Other than the fat guy thing, and the beret thing, that could be a compliment.

So now I want to shower with you, I think.

Great...

and filthy stand-up comedian.

He also liked to walk into shows with hot chicks on leashes.

If you would have added an “ohhhh, ohhhhh” to your post above it would have been very Sam Kinisonish.

I'm just amazed there are people who don't know who Sam Kinison is.

Pro baseball has always been a dream, so this is pretty freakin’ cool out here. -- Tim Steggall, undrafted Rangers minor leaguer.

Meh...

he has been for almost 20 years.

He was obviously very popular back in the day but I’m sure many of the 20 somethings here at LSB aren’t familiar with him.

Come to think of it, I probably shouldn’t be either. I was only 13 when he died and he’s certainly not the kind of guy you want your 11 or 12 year old son listening to. Oh well, I’ll blame that on bad influences from friends.

I knew the name, vaguely.

But I was all of 10 or 11 when he died, apparently.

Kirkman 5 IP 7Ks 2BBs 3Hits 0 ERs

Pretty sweet line. Not gonna lie, I was not sure Kirkman would succeed this year in AAA. I know the orginization values him… It will be interesting to see what his future is. We have so many other guys that are in line for future rotation spot, Kirkman is going to really have to look good to get ahead of Hunter, Holland, Scheppers, Perez for future SP spots. Wonder if he’s future trade bait? We got so many pitchers now its hard to know what to do with them.

Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'

It probably depends on how he measures against

Rapada, Synder and whomever else as a lefty specialist. If the team thinks he’s more than that and other team’s scouts think so as well, he has more value being traded. If Texas doesn’t think any of the others are better lefty specialists or that those guys you listed above aren’t superior to him as far as rotation spots go then they’ll keep him.

At this point he’s relatively unknown in fan circles but most teams have scouts in AAA and he continues like this he’ll be a nice trade piece at the deadline next season or whenever.

Has he been rooming with Holland?

And if they do, can one of them talk like Ricky Bobby and the other like Cal Noughton, Jr?
