Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Wow...

My Cowboy fan hopes of being rid of McNabb has never more felt like the status quo.

Poor Raiders...
Adam_Schefter Eagles wanted to do right by McNabb enough so that they agreed to trade him in the division rather than to the Oakland Raiders.

Like the Cowboys and JJ

Oh wait…

The Raiders will win a Super Bowl again before the non-meddling owner Texans do, I bet.

As has been said

Terrible trade for the Redskins.

NBA- As of right now there is a 4 way tie for the 2nd seed in the west. Awesome.

As has been said?

Am I the only person who thinks the Eagles FO really boned this one?

by cmkelly29 on Apr 4, 2010 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions

This is good for the Eagles and probably bad for the Redskins

I mean, I think McNabb can probably play at a pretty good level for two or three more years, but is Washington going to put anything around him? As sprite points out, the team is pretty shitty offensively right now.

In a vacuum, a second is a fair price for an above-average QB, but when you’re basically just hoping that he’ll make everything better all by himself, it seems a bit wasted.

by brettgardner on Apr 4, 2010 9:37 PM CDT up reply actions

We'll see where they go from here

Brandon Marshall? Dez Bryant? But, I think, if you’re the Redskins, it is no doubt worth it for what they paid.

by octoberty on Apr 4, 2010 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldn't give up #4 for Marshall or Bryant.

Now, if Denver were willing to swap 1sts and get a future 3rd, I would probably take Marshall if I were Washington. But not Bryant.

by brettgardner on Apr 4, 2010 10:14 PM CDT up reply actions

I

Wouldn’t care at all either way.

Some people argued like crazy that losing TO killed the Cowboys, didn’t kill the Cowboys, whatever. Correctly, if you’ll recall, I didn’t care at all. It just doesn’t matter.

You can plug any receiver or any running back in and get a thousand yards. ANY.

by Sharky on Apr 5, 2010 8:37 AM CDT up reply actions

Who cares

The team was shitty offensively without Shanahan calling plays.

Now they have Shanahan calling plays.

Last season doesn’t matter at all.

by Sharky on Apr 5, 2010 8:38 AM CDT up reply actions

Well even if they did and you think Kolb sucks

What is Mcnabb going to do in Washington? They have no receivers, the o-line sucks, and have Portis/Johnson/Parker in the backfield. I don’t see what getting Mcnabb accomplishes for them other than getting back to 8-8, if that.

We need to not always make hard work out of sex- Rick Carlisle.

by sprite on Apr 4, 2010 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions

who cares

They have no receivers, no line. and yeah, 4-12 teams win the super bowl THE NEXT SEASON in the NFL. Because one 6 2 receiver who runs a 4.4 40 is SO much different than the ten thousand other ones in the NFL, right.

Please stop being really, really, irrational. 4-12 teams have won the Super Bowl THE NEXT YEAR.

Go.

no

When you watched the Eagles with McNabb and without McNabb last year, they were MUCH MUCH worse without McNabb. Kolb sucks and will cause the Eagles to struggle which I like. Washington is getting a much better QB than Campbell, and don’t the Redskins have two Cowboy killers in Cooley and Moss.

A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.

by NothinG on Apr 4, 2010 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions

He wasn't bad at all in the two games he started.

And they were 2-1 in the games he played, losing to New Orleans. So suffice it to say, I think you’re exaggerating a little bit here.

by brettgardner on Apr 4, 2010 9:49 PM CDT up reply actions

so?

Makes no difference.

The Eagles will be pretty good every year cus they have Reid. The QB doesn’t matter.

Are you retarded?

Good drafting = prolonged success, particularly in a league with a salary cap and for teams like the Cowboys who are towards the end of the draft.

How do you think the Pats keep doing it, luck? No, they draft well and don’t overpay for aging veterans, among other things.

You are honestly the dumbest NFL poster we have.

Deal

This is a great deal for the Eagles. This is a much higher price than I thought a quarterback at the talent level, age and price of McNabb would yield. The Eagles get a very good pick in this year’s draft and possibly a very good pick in next year’s draft for a QB they didn’t want to keep anyways. That’s a great deal.

The Redskins overpaid. McNabb does make the team better but not enough to make them a legit contender. They are still closer to the bottom of that division rather than the top and they made the Eagles better. Bad move.

by Heebs on Apr 4, 2010 10:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Meh

It doesn’t matter either way. McNabb is the same as Kolb who is the same as Campbell, theyre all the exact same.

The draft pics dont matter at ALL. A first rounder barely matters, a second rounder couldn’t be less relevant.

by Sharky on Apr 5, 2010 8:32 AM CDT up reply actions

you are a moron

this is a VERY deep draft.

to say QBs dont matter means that quincy carter = tom brady = peyton manning?

Well

The problem I have with judging this deal is that it depends on:

1) How much McNabb has left in the tank
2) How good Kolb is going to be
3) Washington’s chances of being good in the next 2-3 years

I don’t have enough of an opinion on #1 and #2 to be able to really opine one way or the other.

Like such thing as a terrible trade exists in the NFL.

If the Cowboys traded their next ten number ones for a bag of M&M’s, it wouldn’t matter at all. That’s a fact.

When I first saw this

I thought the Eagles had sent Mc Nabb to die.

Then I remember, Shanahan is now in Washington. So yeah, now they’ll be good. Since talent doesn’t matter at all, of course, and everybody knows it, which is why all the media now thinks Washington will be good, which is completely illogical since they weren’t good last year, aka they dont have “talent”, but everybody knows that doesn’t matter at all. Everybody.

The NFC East is just ridiculous, as I’ve been saying all offseason. Philly has Reid and Morningweg, they’re always good, The Giants fired their DC, which was their problem last year, Wash has Mike and Kyle Shanahan. Dallas is kinda good ourselves.

Hopefully it will take a couple seasons for the Skins to get rolling, though.

win for the redskins

no matter what they won this deal by having an all-star caliber quarterback

draft picks can be somewhat over rated look at how many draft picks from each team actually stay with a team its not like they gave up a top ten pick

Nobody punished like Earl and No one was nastier than Ryan

and on top of that

glen dorsey was the #4 overall pick? and if you wouldnt trade dorsey for mcnabb you are crazy

and im not saying that the chiefs should have picked him up it was just an example

I think this makes the division way easier for us (Cowboys) to win

the Redskins just went from a 5-11 team to a .500 team. Although McNabb helps, their D is aging and their offense lacks big time, especially on the o-line. McNabb’s going to have hard time without Jackson, Celek, Westbrook, McCoy, etc.
As for the Eagles, who knows how he’s going to do. If anything, he’s got arguably one of the most skilled offenses to work with. But for now, Eagles fans are severely going to miss McNabb for now.
And in terms of the Giants, they are arguably the most overrated team in the NFC. Especially watching that team at the end of last year, it looked like they had just packed it in even though they still had a chance at the playoffs.
imo, in the East, there’s us and 3 other mediocre to above average teams….
