Rangers schedule through the All-Star break = Optimism
I knew the rangers schedule was pretty favorable for the month of May but I went ahead and looked all the way through the All-Star break and it turns out there are only a 4 teams (out of 19) that have a winning record and we play 11 of 19 series at home. If we continue to get good pitching, I see no reason why this team can't be 54 - 33 by the time we hit the break. Here is a snapshot of the schedule through July 11th: (note xWin and xLoss is only my opinion and not based on any mathematical formula.)

I'm an optimist but this seems reasonable to me. I think this team would really have to play poorly for this not to happen. What are your thought?

I think we'll get swept by Minnesota
And split both series with Baltimore (depending on what the matchups look like; Matusz will beat us every single time he faces us). Otherwise, looks good to me.

Because it's quite the rivalry, right?

"These two Texas teams always get after each other when they play, because the Silver Boot is on the line. Expect a competitive game throughout."
"I think it's funny because everybody wants Ozzie Smith range," Young said. "I want people to show me a guy that has turbo range like that."
Agree
Mavs-Spurs games are awesome. I didn’t know they had that silver boot thing.

damn
after the rays series in june that is an extremely favorable sched until the all star break
yea, the Rangers play
literally the worst teams in baseball one right after the other.
I’m optimistic myself, thinking they can start to turn it on before the all star break, and beat the teams that they’re supposed to dominate.

Good stuff.
I was trying to point this out during April as well with all the “another slow start” panic.
We had an April this year that was much more difficult than it’s been in most recent years. Add to that we blew games after the 8th inning at a rate very unlikely to continue and there wasn’t reason for such worry.
I'm not sure
about 54-33, but I am optimistic that they could wind up in first place. The Rangers always have a weird pitfall team — like Detroit last year — that they just can’t seem to beat. It wouldn’t surprise me if Bal. or Fla beat the shit out of the Rangers. Just ’cause.
That aside, I think the last 20 days have proven that this is the class of the West. Such as it is.
That's why they call them business sox
51-36
I think they this is more realistic and I think they will end up with 90 wins and the AL West division crown.
This is just a guess, but
if we play all the teams with losing records before the All-Star break, then I would think that the other teams in the West also play the same ones too.
