That article included references
to Glenallen Hill, Chili Davis, Mark Whiten, and Tom Brunansky. Awesome
The Cruz story is a good one, but it is probably a red herring to hope that other failed Quad-A guys are just waiting to explode if given enough time. I think the Rangers got lucky here…
Go Rice Owls!
as kinslerhomer points out over there
The Rangers should get some credit for opening up his stance which turned out to be the magic potion that unlocked his potential.

Not only should it be part of the conversation,
it should serve as a cautionary note when looking at other players in their early 20s with poor plate discipline. Cruz can’t really be used as a comp for that reason.
Ceterum censeo, Ron Washington esse delendam
Hil didn't have the
speed or power that Cruz has. I wouldn’t mind Nellie replicating Whiten’s 4 HR game.

Thank you Houston for drafting Jason Castro.
Yep, it's the greatest offensive game ever.
No other 4 HR guy had as many RBIs, and Jim Bottomley didn’t have 4 HRs.

Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
All those words from Sickels
And dumb was not one of them…

Passive / Aggressive Rodney is hilarious.
