Keep in your thoughts (updated)
Former Ranger pitcher Wes Littleton, who is now in the Seattle system, and his wife Jamie had a baby boy, Beckham Littleton, this month.
Beckham has recently been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, which is, as I'm sure you know, very serious.
Wes is one of the good guys in the game, and I've always been a fan of his and followed him even after he left the Rangers. I'd ask everyone just to keep Wes and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE -- Good news -- Beckham is doing much better, and is going to get to come home from the hospital on Sunday.

That is bad news.
I’ll be pulling for the little guy.

Thoughts and prayers, for sure.
But with a badass name like Beckham Littleton, I expect a full recovery.

really is a great name
wish them the best
Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'
That's sad news :(
He’s a cute little guy.
Not mediocre. Right about average
Adam, it's okay to say, "Keep in your prayers." Which I will do, btw.

Yes it is
It’s also ok to let it pass without bringing your agenda up and just focus on the kid and his family’s struggle with a tough situation.

No shit...
best of luck to the little guy and their family.

I used to have an attitude about stuff like this...
Like, well, these things happen. It’s the luck of the draw… not everyone is healthy. Not everyone makes it.
Then I grew up and had two girls.
When one of them falls and hits their head and cries, or runs a high fever and feels miserable, it just about kills me. I can not possibly imagine what Wes and his family are going through right now. What’s even worse is that it sounds like he can’t even be there. At least it sounds like they’re getting a diagnosis pinned down. Nowadays I hate… hate, reading about a sick baby. It’s about the only thing that gets to me.
Kick its ass, little guy.

Do you have another on the way?
Thought I remembered you posting that a while back. I have one little girl, just turned 4.
Like bhudson I can’t stand seeing any child hurt or seriously ill. Just had a friend go through 18 months of chemo and radiation with her 3 yr. old boy who had a brain tumor. He just had his 2nd clear MRI and we’re all psyched as hell. She’s been an amazing mom through all of that, unbelievable the number of hours they’ve spent in the hospital.
I feel for any parent having to watch helplessly as their child goes through something like this. You want to protect them and fix whatever is wrong, but you can’t.

No, I don't have another on the way (yet, heh)...
and that is fantastic news about your friend’s son!
Ah, shit.

can't imagine it
I don’t know what I would do if my kiddos were that sick. Hope you feel better soon, little man.
Random side note.
One of the people in our lab is an MD who’s specialty is Pediatric Infectious Disease. Not only is that a combination of two of the lowest paying specialties possible, but it also involves dealing with kids who have already gotten sick and been resistant to some of the more standard treatments (Texas Children’s is a regional center). Apparently, it’s so trying on the doctors that they aren’t allowed to be in clinic for more than 6 months at a time (at least, that’s how it is at TCH). In their other six months, they can do regular Peds or ID or work in a lab (research or clinic), but they have to limit it because it is so trying emotionally.
I just can’t imagine picking that specialty…

Damn that really sucks.
Best wishes to the Littleton’s.

This really sucks for them..I hope everything turns out alright
I was a big fan of Littleton for many years. Though I don’t follow him as closely now since it’s not as easy with him being in another organization..I’m still a fan.
I’ve talked to his wife several times in the past.. they’re just good people. Best of luck.
Damn, this stuff gets to me.
Sending good thoughts to Beckham, Wes and his wife. Pull through, little guy.
I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called, The Bus That couldn't Slow Down.

We just celebrated the birth of our first son and second child back on St. Patrick’s Day. So obviously, stories like this carry an extra impact on us.
Pull through, Beckham!
I for some weird reason
figured parents on this board didn’t have bits. I’m know wondering why I thought that.
