The MSM has been pretty quiet about Eric Hurley ...

but word has it …

- velo is back, like HS velo back, like zippety doo daa back. Of course the pro ball regimen should shave it down to E-Train norms – but ya never know.
- shoulder is fine, no worries, no troubles, no shoulder setbacks.
- left wrist – remember he had surgery in spring training? Well, a setback near the end of rehab has put him back to square one with a repeat surgery/hardcast situation – hence the delay in seeing him get assigned within the expected time frame.
- game-action ETA is now around a month away – assignment should follow soon after if all goes well.
- his spring stints throwing live BP have clowned extended batters. Luckily he’s still able to throw sides and long-toss and keep his arm strong since it’s his glove wrist that’s wonky. Surgery #2 shut him down again for a spell tho’ – cast comes off Monday.
- a successful return to a high level is a reasonable target, arm health certainly isn’t limiting expectations anyway. Soon as he can wear a glove again he’s back on an extended rehab sked that ends with an assignment. Late June/ early July? Booyah. Loves me some Eric Hurley.

10-4 GO/FO, 8H, 1R/ER, 2K, 1BB.

Here’s what I like about Bleier, 8 starts, 8 walks to go with a nearly 60% ground ball rate. He doesn’t strike out anyone hardly, though, so he’ll have to be completely awesome at not walking people and getting ground balls to reach his back end innings eater ceiling.

His walk rates each season. 2008, 2 BB/9; 2009, 1.3 BB/9; 2010, 1.35 BB/9, or if you prefer, between 3-4% of batters faced.

Salty’s toss-to-mound problems have improved dramatically the last few games – so much so that you don’t notice it – forget he even had troubles. Sez Salty’s D has been tremendous – blocking, throwing, handling the pitchers. Salty hit a long HR to right center earlier tonight also. All FWIW. Scheppers is in – just hit a guy in the helmet. Dude’s okay.

Wash also credited Treanor with saving the season the other day

Treanor is the exact type of player you can’t have on Ron Washington roster, because he’s going to play waaaaay more than his talent or production dictates.

Like Jason Jennings last year. And like Jason Jennings, Treanor’s going to have to forcible insert his penis into several terrible losses for JD to cut him.

That, and Salty isn’t going to have Ron’s ‘trust’ when he gets back because he played a game when his back hurt.
