Now what for McCarthy?
With McCarthy injured again, what is everyone's prediction on his future? Can he make it as a reliever? He has shown success this year in the minors as a starting pitcher.
I read in TR's article McCarthy to the DL his injury is not as bad as before. But don't we hear this about everyone's injury?
Will he follow the same career path as Kerry Wood or Mark Prior? Although he did not reach their level of success.

McCarthy
I don’t really see how anyone could expect anything out of him at this point. He may float around for a few more years and see some big league time mixed in with some minor league time. Lots of DL.
We should turn this into a "Smoak call-up" thread redux
Boy, I can’t wait for DVD to materialize in the majors. Those three guys will take the Rangers to the World Series!!!
Offering continued condolences to Stars and Liverpool fans.
This seems like a legit question.
Going into the season, McCarthy was seen as part of the pitching depth that this team had as a big advantage over other teams in the league— esp the division.
If the injury is minor and he comes back in good shape, I could see the team showcasing him and be used as a trade piece for a deadline deal. Otherwise, he’s probably 3rd in line for a starting gig and probably one of the early options to be a long man if something happens to Nippert.

Neftali Feliz says sit your 5 dollar ass down before he makes change...
I was a McCarthy supporter and felt he was just having some really bad luck
But this year he’ll show everyone he can be healthy. I already know he can pitch. I was hoping he’d make the starting rotation (too bad cause if so Holland would likely be up now). With this latest injury I have now accepted that he will never be healthy. Oh well.
He's become the Mike Sherrard of the Rangers

what is the old joke about Jaguars
you need to have enough money to own two at all times – one to drive around in, one to have in the shop getting repaired.
The solution is to just have two Brandon McCarthy’s. Which is why the Rangers signed Rich Harden
