Nelson Cruz to the disabled list, Craig Gentry called up
The Rangers have put Nelson Cruz on the 15 day disabled list and called up Craig Gentry from AAA.
Because of the decision to have Cruz pinch hit on Friday, he can't be activated until June 13th, rather than June 11.
And of course, the Rangers can't have Cruz hang around and DH while Vladimir Guerrero plays the outfield because that would leave them stretched in the outfield, and they can't let either of the backup infielders go just yet.

If they'd had a backup OF'er up here before maybe they could've rested him a bit instead of throwing him right back in the fire... FUCK THIS SHIT!!!

Thank God
they put him on the DL The last thing they need is to rush him back and keep reaggravating the Hamstring.
However, it is still insane they have 2 very replaceable MIFs.

They should've waited to bring him back... or at least stuck with their announced plan to sit him that second day after coming back.
This team is just a comedy of fucking errors.
If I didn’t love ‘em so much I swear I’d letter bomb the shit out of the whole fucking franchise.
I imagine our medical staff to be 3 hobos and a past-her-prime stripper they hired off the streets cause she was dressed as a nurse.

According to Will Carroll...
…the Ranger medical staff is very good, and highly respected around the league.

Strippers tender to engender good feelings, and of course the league respects for highering those idiot hobos. It was a bold move.

Austin Kearns
What would it take to get him?
CLE is pretty far back from 1st, Kearns is 30 years old, bats righty, and makes 750k this year.
He’s having a pretty good year this year even though historically he’s not that great.
You think CLE would trade Kearns for Murphy and a prospect? Murphy is two years younger and we can use a right handed bat.
Interesting name.
I could see them doing that trade straight up
I wanted him this Winter... That'd be a good target for us, imo.
I’d do Murphy + whatever (hopefull Arias… but no one wants him, he sucks) for Kearns.
But knowing us we’ll trade for another UIF.

Corey Hart do anyhing for ya?
Brewers are gonna move him soon.

No thanks
Hart is signed for 4.8M this year while having a worse year compared to Kearns. I rather trade a little more and get the guy signed for less than 1M.
ZiPS (Update)
.349 vs .353, virtually no diff.
But I can see your point on the money.

he does seem to be the RH vewrsion of Murphy
maybe a little better defensively
Thank you Houston for drafting Jason Castro.
My question would be
why would Cleveland want Murphy?
What do voluntary mean?
The dude abides.....
Who is weak defensively, dismal batting versus lefties and not exactly dominating versus righties.
One of these days I will learn to complete my line of thought in one comment. But this way, it looks like I get more replies!
He'd make a fine 4th OF'er on a team who maybe had some RHH'ers to protect instead of LHH'ers.

If these crazy roster changes are all apparent to us, the Non-baseball professional
then what the hell is wrong with the damn FO that they can’t see what’s obvious?!?!?!?!? I mean, it is pretty obvious, right? These seem like Baseball 101 decisions…not exactly upper-level course work. This is pissing the shit out of me, Buzz-style.
"Does this effectively hide my thunder?"
Think about the implications
It says that JD doesn’t believe any of our minor league IFs are even close to ready. It says they would rather take a chance that Cruz was close to coming back than admit this franchise is lacking serious depth.
All we can do is hope that damn sale goes through when it’s supposed to, so we can start building depth for a futile playoff run this year or something better next year.
What minor league IFs?
seriously. However, we can get IFs off the same scrap pile we got Blanco, and they will be of similar quality.
