42-28
9 in a row, the second-longest winning streak in team history.
Tommy Hunter didn't have real good stuff, but he battled and gave the Rangers 6 solid innings. Darren Oliver and Neftali Feliz shut the door. We got three homers and a sac fly for the runs.
Just a very nice ballgame tonight.

It was definitely strange
I just kept sending him links to various reports that disagree with his take. His only responses to me (and others) have been “believe what you want” or “you really think that’s right?”
It’s just really sad that he is considered an authority on this.
Yeah well you're probably just a team plant
I can’t believe you disagree with me. Do you know who I am? Obviously not. Go back to your mother’s basement loser!

There's really only two possible reasonings for his actions:
1) He has inside information that he can’t disclose, so he can’t prove you wrong. (I do not think this is the case at all).
2) He’s so entrenched in his viewpoint that he can’t Chip Brown-it and flip flop with the new information.

One thing we were going over in the other thread
is why the Lenders would try to put such positive spin on everything. And I realized that Lenders, like all businesses, want to project that they are going to win a lawsuit right up until they don’t so they don’t lose funding. This is also true for the Rangers in case one of their funding sources started getting cold feet – but less true since they don’t have unsophisticated investors as funding sources.
Point being, it seems dumb to rely on investors. And I have a hard time seeing why the team needs spin

Greenberg and Co. have been putting on a happy face throughout the sale process.
I think they know how much attention the diehard fans are paying to this process, particularly now that we have a team that looks like it can compete.
Greenberg wants to come out of this whole thing looking like the prince on the shining white horse, and putting up his positive front helps him do that.

The first one is from April with the toe tap. You can see him lift and then tap and then lift his leg again. The second one was last week. No tap. Incidentally, he hit a homer on both of these.

I really doubt that the tap has anything to do with anything.
Except his mental state. They changed something for the sake of changing something to clear his head, and his natural ability took over.

Well, it could be about the timing.
Looks like eliminating the tap might enable Josh to have a little bit of a quicker bat.

I think it could be a little bit in his head
Hasn’t he said recently that he sometimes forgets how quick his bat speed is? The toe tap might have just sort of prevented him from really using it. Also, in the toe tap one, his feet don’t leave the ground when he’s swinging the bat, which I guess could lead to less power in his swing.

M-Cab’s defense kills him in WAR though.

Crawford is the guy they're snubbing though.
He’s shy of being a 4-win player like cano and Morneau, but he’s got a full half-win advantage on Longo, Youk and Josh in WAR. He’s having an F-Gutz-esque season in LF.

I don't mind people discounting defensive value, especially for a position like LF
Too hard to tell whether it’s for real. His WAR is buoyed a lot by his fielding.
It's not like this is exactly a fluke for Crawford though
He’s been in the top 5 defensively 3 years running now.

But his fielding contributes more to his WAR than batting
I’m not ready to give that much credit to fielding.
Fine
But even if you just look at the top offensive guys, Hamilton still ain’t top three. 5th in wRC, 5th in wOBA and 5th in batting WAR.

Well
Morneau, Youk, M-Cab and Cano are all ahead of Josh in wOBA, and Cano, Morneau, Crawford, Rios, Longo and Youk all have edges on him in WAR.
So they’re actually correct about Hamilton not being one of the top three candidates, though I have no idea who they’re saying the top 3 candidates are.

Pretty much, especially if you live in the US, do not fucking do torrents
Download the material isn’t the charge, sharing it is. Torrents basically require you to distribute it as you DL it.
Here, it doesn’t matter, but DDLs are easier, faster, and there’s no internet tape trail.
Theres really no reason not to use rapidshare if you're doing that.
BT either doesn’t work half the time for more difficult to find stuff, or you’re sharing it.
The only times I ever used it are when bands from labels who don’t care had something I wanted.

Even though nothing really changed since the order but whatever
- Saying there is enough information on both sides to hang their hat on
- Cites the CRO, saying the creditors could block by convincing him that they will win
- CRO is making sure that lenders are protected under bankruptcy code
- Mediation is possible (short shrift – I don’t think he believes that this will happen)
- Thinks that Ryan/Greenberg didn’t want to see the order today, wants to make sure to characterize it as a setback
- July 31st deadline looking less likely? Brown reminds them that Lynn is aware of deadline
- Crane wont’ ever win
- Ryan/Greenberg will just make sure that creditors are not impaired and won’t get vote

for your valiant crusade against the brainless meaty underbelly of the sports media today
And I ask this question
Will the CRO really do much more than look to see if the claims are preserved for creditors? I mean, the judge basically has said the secured creditors only get 75M + interest and damages of breaches AFTER the sale. They can’t get more money and the judge already said it will only take a minor change.
They keep talking about the CRO preserving lenders’ rights but those rights are minimal. I would think the bigger issue is the CRO making sure the sale doesn’t breach fiduciary duties of the equity owners – which would seem to be a slam dunk.
More
- Lenders probably need to get money from other entities
- What are the changes? Lynn wants to see protections that protect the Lenders after sale process and everybody gets paid (he fucks this up – it’s about protecting claims not just money)
- Not that simple to make the change (Still think he’s wrong)
- CRO is the key. Lives in South Lake, big Rangers fan (radio guys said this – maybe it’s a joke)
- Brown thinks that there will be some movement on both sides, compromise (again, not sure what leverage lenders really have)
- Even if lenders blocked the sale, not sure Lenders can do anything else after that

I got a sense from the
article that a lot of people in baseball are pissed off at the Ranger situation.
Team owners, however, are furious that MLB has provided more than $20million to the Rangers this year and that Ryan, who won 324 games over 27seasons, is paid $9 million a year.

but you truly are a cocksucker josey. we probably all like nolan but to give him all the credit is beyond stupid. even nolan admits he doesnt pull the strings, its your boy johnny doughnuts. to make another point, of course you think we should sell the farm to win this year, youve never been able to see beyond the record in front of your face. everyone on this site has been saying how good the rangers were going to be this year. you said in an earlier post that we dont know whats going to happen in 2012 and used frank frank as an example as someone who might not be around to help the club. was it this month or last you outright wanted to cut him and get nothing in return. you cant be taken seriously and you truly take away the credibility of this site.

Welcome aboard. I'm not looking beyond 2011 with This Thing.
If Josh, Cruz, The Face, Vlad or Kinsler were somewhere between 24-27 years of age, hell yes we’d have a great chance to be a dominant team beyond 2011 but they’re all between 28-34.
Look at baseball history and see which teams have been dominant for significant periods of time.
The Window is open and this truly is our time…reassess after 2011.
Per Nolan Ryan – he made JD a better executive, period.

After what happened here in 2007,
I was extraordinarily happy on that glorious February morning in 2008.
Everything is fluid, it’s still early and there’s a lot more golf to play but JD finally had him a good off-season (and the in season moves are working).
It took 5 years and a lot of blood, sweat and tears but what the hell, we’re finally here…let’s go win something in the next two years.

my big thing is why is Kemp
batting 7th? They have Loney and Garrett Anderson batting 4/5. That will compete with anybody to be the worst 4-5 combo. The dodgers lineup sucks in the middle. Granted Loney can hit ok, but he has little to zero pop in his bat to warrant the cleanup spot.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Loney
has alot of pop, he’s just down a bit this year. Torre has put Kemp everywhere in that line-up. Anywhere from the 2hole to 7hole. He belongs in the 3 hole with Ethier hitting cleanup. IMO

Loney's .147 ISO this year is roughly in-line with his career ISO of .155
Which is inflated by his first two partial seasons.
He hasn’t broken a .150 ISO in almost 2 1/2 years now. He doesn’t have “a lot of pop”.

For tomorrow....
Real clarity coming in article tomorrow. Have to say this…
The 28 pages in the opinion was some of the most complex reading I have yet undertaken. Reporting needed to be done when the news broke, but after several readings, it is becoming more and more clear.
I will say this…
By the judge saying that there are class impairments that can be rectified by addressing them, he has made sure that if the debtors to meet the muster, appeal is a dead deal.
In not approving the prepacked plan and allowing voting rights, the creditors get what they wanted. If the issues are addressed, and the voting rights removed, it will be exceptionally hard for the creditors to win on appeal.
In other words, what looks like a setback might, in many ways, guarantee the deal getting done.
More later on Weds.

"Reporting needed to be done when the news broke..."
(The use of passive voice by a journalist in this circumstance is concerning…)
Seriously, though: as a reader, I would’ve preferred to see the reporting reflect the complexity of the situation. Something essentially saying, “Hey, folks, this ruling is really involved reading, and as a journalist, I’m not going to post public analysis of it until I’m sure I’ve digested it and talked to knowledgeable, trustworthy sources about it. That means you’ll have to wait to get my take until tomorrow, but I promise the resulting thoroughness and clarity of my analysis will make it worth your wait. Meantime, here are the facts as best I can report them at the moment, with no real attempt to interpret the judge’s memo or read between its lines.”
I’m not trying to single you out; in fact, I’ve been a fan of the reporting you’ve done on the sale, and I appreciate the fact that you’ve been posting on Rangers forums. In terms of media coverage, though, yesterday was very troubling, and since you are here and posting, I felt like it’d be worth responding.
